I have been looking at the same gun you use. I have read alot of threads that give the impression the recoil is bone crushing? I went to the local gun dealer tonite and looked at a used one and the coating on the stock was peeling it appeared to be a clear coat not the camo. Have you encountered these or any of issues? I am currently turkey hunting with a 1991 bps 10 ga 30 in full choke wood finish it is like carrying a boat anchor and looking at updating my turkey gun. it is between the ntwf bps 12 ga 3 1/2 24in with a turkey choke or a benelli. The benelli is more money than I would like to spend. Will I notice much difference in recoil or range between my old bps and the new one? I would appreciate your opinion.

The classic BPS is a recoil monster mostly because of stiff recoil pad rubber, when compared to an 870, for instance.

Getting your 10 ga. cut down to a nice livable length (save a pound or better with that super-thick barrel) or getting the 12 ga. plus either with a nice cushy replacement pad vs. the cost of a Benelli, definitely a difference.

Recent shooting had 150 pellets of lead #6 in 10" at 40 yards from barrels under 24" total, 3" mag, BPS and Win. 1300, for example.

Is that a dead turkey?
