I just got one of these for cowboy action shooting.

The trigger return spring seems weak. The trigger needs to return to forward position to fire the second barrel, and sometimes mine stays back longer than I think it should.

I am not a gunsmith. I have taken other shotguns apart and so far have been able to put them back together again. But I admit it scares me.

So, is it possible to access the trigger spring by just taking the buttstock off, or would I have to get inside the box lock itself?

Assuming I can gain access, is it possible to tweak the existing spring or replace it? I have some straight spring wire from Wolff's, might even be able to fashion a stronger replacement?

Or am I dreaming?

Thanks for your guidance.

Here is a parts drawing.

Trigger spring is shown in the separate trigger drawing #PO82876.

I would suggest you remove the stock and give everything a tiny drop of oil before doing anything else.
It may just be dried out or gummed up with old oil..
