So, towards the end of my last range trip, I noticed the buck mark having a horrible time with ejection - about 1/3 of all the shots were failing to eject the brass properly. I couldn't immediately tell what was wrong with it, so I figured I'll just take it home, clean it, and everything will be alright.

Well, I went back to the range tonight, and it still was doing it! So I started watching each shot individually, trying to figure it out... then I saw this:

That's when I started asking myself this question: WHERE IS MY EXTRACTOR?

Must have fallen off somewhere along the way?? Maybe during cleaning?? And it's frankly amazing to me that even 2/3 of the brass were even being ejected w/o the extractor...

The next question is, where can I get a replacement by tomorrow?? Taking some girls out shooting :)

I've experienced something similar with my Ruger 10/22M (in.17 HMR), although the stovepipes I was experiencing was not, IMO, related with the extractor, as I've deduced. Wanting to see what kind of tension the extractor was exerting, I had pulled it back with the rim of an empty case. Much to my surprise, it just fell out. Upon looking at the exploded view of the 10/22(M) when I got home, I had noticed that all that was keeping the extractor in placee was the shape of the rear portion of the extractor, the extractor plunger, and the extractor spring. No pin or anything to keep it in place. Upon futher investigation, this seem to be the norm for rimfire pistols and rifles with this type of extractor including the Buckmark.

The best place that I've found to get replacements for these small Browning parts is from Browning. you can obtain their complete PARTS LIST and costs HERE. You'll need to fill out the order form at the bottom of the page and mail or fax it over to them. They are even cheaper than Brownells. Although it appears you have the older slide assembly, the extractor parts for the old and the new are the same. (Just ordered the new slide assembly to replace the old one for my Unlimited myself. The little wings on the side of the slide do help quite a bit when pulling the slide back.)

Those extractors are removable without much effort. I do keep a spare on-hand.

Being a blowback pistol design is what allowed ejection without an extractor.
