It's all the same pistol with different features - sights, grip, barrel length, etc.
For my money, I'd just go with the Camper. If you don't like the fiber optic sights, a dab of black enamel makes them go away.

One thing to keep in mind is that the Camper has a plastic rear sight base. It may never give you a problem, but some have been reported to have cracked.
If you intend to mount optics on the Camper you will need to replace the sight base (this holds true for all current production BMs except the Hunter and Contour models).

BTW, nice pistol you have there wbwanzer. I have the same model, but I ended up replacing the FO front sight.

Instead of buying a base model Camper and then getting a metal sight base, you could just get a Standard.
But only if you prefer the URX grip and don't mind being pretty much stuck with it. You can get other grip panels for the Camper style more easily.
The Camper and Standard are the only two I can find relatively easily. They list a lot of models, but it may be a while before you run into some of them.

I prefer the Contour/URX, as it has a built-in picatinny rail.
When I talked to Browning about a month ago, the lady said that the camper and standard use the same sights now. Don't know if true or not.
I have a standard and a camper. Both URX grips. Fits me like a glove. I would not have any other Buckmark grip for my hands. Handle the different grip choices, if you can, and see what you prefer.
I had one at one time, may get another one someday if I decide to use a scope or dot, but never could get it to feel/balance right in my hand.

If you plan on ever installing an optic, I would highly recommend getting one with a factory rail. Other than the pictured B-Square full-length rail, all the aftermarket mounts leave much to be desired. Their short rail is particularly pesky. I would also recommend disregarding statements about "unnecessary features" and get the one you want. The plastic fiber optic sights would prevent me from buying a Camper model. The only bummer with the Buckmark is the availability of aftermarket grips. I've settled on these bonded ivory grips from Altamont and another set in checkered walnut of unknown origin on my Bullseye model.

Agreed - I have no complaints with the URX grips on my Standard. Some people don't like them, but the majority of internet posters seem to. Appears to fit smaller hands better than bigger, again just off what I've seen posted.
Didn't mean to make it sound like URX grips were horrible - because IME they're not.

The Hunter is another option if you want a built-in rail. Plus the wood grips look very nice. I think mine feels a little "top heavy" compared to the Standard with the shorter barrel. Nothing insurmountable, though. Still a good gun that I have no issue with.
As far as FO vs. blade sights: You will hear a lot of people say they don't like the FO. I'm okay with them (Hunter comes with them). With that being said, I like the Standard's blade sight too and you can always put a dab of paint on them, which works wonders. PLUS you can remove or re-apply the paint whenever you want. Something to consider for prospective buyers who may be reading.
I just bought a buckmark camper and had numerous failure to ejects(fte). I was using winchester xpert (box of 500) and the empty case would remain in the chamber after each shot. I then shot winchester wildcat had one fte in 50 rounds, I used remington ely, remington high velocity and winchester plated round nose I shot 100 rounds with each brand no fte's. I switched back to the winchester xpert 3 fte's in 30 rounds. I guess it doesnt like the xpert ammo. The gun shot well and hit what I was aiming at. I even let my 10 year old daughter shoot it and at 50 yards she was able to hit the target once (9 inch) and the paper (24 inch square) the nine other times and that was her first time shooting a handgun. I would reccomend this firearm to anyone.

Certain purchases in life, I have lived to regret--including pistols. My Camper is not one of them. I have gone on to add quite a few upgrades to it, but in doing so I was able to add exactly what I wanted.

Mine came with a fiber optic sight, but I didnt' like it as much as I thought I would. The NCStar sight is the most fun you could get for $30. From research and experience, I can say that the scope is the same OEM scope selling for at least double the price. And that the only negative feedback that people gave it on Amazon were by people who didn't bother to read the directions.

Here us my standard with a red/green dot sight. I would not hesitate to buy a camper or standard model and customize it to suit yourself. I got that rail for cheap from Brownell's and it works great. I chose the standard because I prefer the slab side look, but functionally, the camper is the same gun.

Ours has the fiber optic front sight, which my wife likes and I don't. (seems to make aiming quicker, at the expense of precision) It's in the upper right of this pic. Getting the same model with the slab-sided barrel without the fiber optic front sight was an extra $50. (boo!) Also, this gun only includes one mag, and spares are $30 ea. at retail. (boo!) But she loves it. It has a great trigger and is 100% reliable with good ammo.

I have the Camper - it's GRRRRRRREAT! I'm not sure there's much difference between the Camper and a Target, except the grips. But the Camper has adjustable rear sight. Anyway, it's just fine for me (the Camper) and I couldn't ask for more accuracy.

I use a Camper as a suppressor host. Honestly, the plastic sight base is not a big deal. Mine seems pretty tough. How thick do you think a metal sight base on a .22 will be? I'm pretty sure the metal one dents when dropped.
