I'm looking at getting another O/U for shooting skeet. I have found a nice Citori GTI and a XS Sporting for about price both 30" barrels (GTI is ported and XS is not). Any advantages to going with the newer XS sporting over the GTI? GTI has nice case as well. Anyone have experience with both models?

I have an Ultra XS with 30" barrels. Although I was at first concerned about the length, since my other shotgun had a 28" barrel, I found that the gun balances well and that it swings just fine. It fits me well, too. (I'm 5'11" and 185 lbs.) And, frankly, it looks like a work of art. I love the gun.

As long as the prices are relatively competitive, I would get the one that isn't ported. It just makes them louder and harder to clean.

Get the non-ported XS - I believe it is newer as well (check the serial numbers) - but do a thourough checkout first (lever right, lockup, no excess wear/damage). Even the ported GTI may be a better deal if the XS has been abused. Personally though - I don't remember those GTI's being ported - were they??

I almost just bought a well worn gti. Is the GTI gold or red lettering? Only the first year is red and is less desirable. I have heard that some gti's are not ported, but most are.

Between the two I would choose the XS Sporting.
If your intent is to shoot skeet, why not shop for an XS Skeet?
Aren't the Sporting and Skeet models similarly priced?
I'll confess that I prefer the wider forearm on the XS Skeet.
Unfortunately the Skeet model will be ported, except for the
28 gauge and the .410 bore.

Thanks for the input. Both the XS sporting and GTI are priced about half of a NIB XS gun. I also prefer the semi beaver tail forearm over the Schnabel and will likely have an adjustable comb installed no matter which gun I buy. I like the XS skeet and XS Special models as well. I have only two issues with the XS skeet one is it is a little over my budget and two the fiber optic front sight. I love the fiber on my pistols, but my skeet gun should have a plain bead. I don't need anything drawing my eyes away from the target. 
. Can these be changed to a regular bead? The GTI is gold lettered and appears not to have seen much action. Finish is near 100%, lock up is tight with lever still to the right of center. I really like the looks of the XS receivers, the scroll work is great. Anyone dealt with Ozark guns? They seem to have a good price on a NIB XS, even though it's over budget, I might be able to swing it.

The Gti is an older model - I have one with almost 200,000 rounds through it - replaced the springs and firing pins at about 90,000 - the only maintenance repairs done to the gun. I also have an Ultra XS(similar to the sporting) in 20 gauge with 30 inch barrels -it has about 20,000 through it with no issues.
I am surprised to see a sporting without porting. Browning ports EVERY target gun, but not their field versions. You might be looking at a field version - if so, it will tend to be lighter than the target version. Personally, I prefer the heavier target versions for clays as it helps with recoil mitigation.
The basic fit will be the same, although, IIRC, the XS sporting comes with a schnabel forearm while the Gti came with a beavertail - a semantic difference to some, a major point to others
