I have a chance at getting a Browning Gold, 12 ga wood stock, near new, only 2 boxes of shells through it. Stock is "flawless". I will see it tomorrow AM.

Worth $650.00 asking price? Really don't need another shotgun right now but if the price makes it a bargain I may jump.

Opinions on the gun? Deal or No Deal ?

Fit may be different from some shotguns. The stock drop is a bit flatter than many.

Check for fit. It may be perfect for you. If so, it's a good gun. Not much is said about them, but I've known a few owners who loved them and wouldn't want anything but.

They're seen a lot in the winner's circles of clay events...

You must go to different clays events than what I go to. I seldom even see anyone shooting a Browning Gold at a clays event, much less in the winner's circle with one.

Occasionally a hunter who shoots his gun a time or two before hunting season will show up with a Browning Gold, but other than that, they are very scarce at sporting clays events. I don't see many on the skeet or trap fields either.

For Sporting Clays, the Beretta autoloaders are by FAR the #1 autoloader. Same for skeet. In trap shooting, it's about a tossup between the Berettas and the Remington 1100's.

Wow, you must not get out much. I see lots of browning gold at all types of sporting clay events and some do make it to the winners circle. It is a good shooting gun that has reduced recoil due to its gas system and a variety of barrel lengths and chamber sizes. They do need to be run "wet" and cleaned after a round or two of sporting clays. I use a cenergy and own a gold with a 30" barrel and a 3" chamber. I do use it for clays now and then but it shoots ducks like it is a guided missile.
Where I come from they call the 1100 a jamomatic!

Perhaps someone could tell me the name of a couple of top level shooters who shoot the Browning Gold. Andy Duffy used to shoot one (since Browning was one of his sponsors), but even he gave it up several years ago.

I don't know of any top level shooter shooting a Browning Gold today........... but of course, I may not know all of them. Perhaps someone can clue me in.

The biggest problems I have ever encountered with 1100s in 46 years are the bad nuts one finds on the back of the stock.

LOL. Yep, that nut on the back of the stock is responsible for lots of gun malfunctions. :D
