Browning hi-power

I've got an FEG copy with a hammer that really likes to bite. I went with the cheap fix (well, not as cheap as lowering your grip) and shoot it with gloves. I intend to get a C&S No-bite hammer or even the SFS system at some point. The other option is to send it to Robar and have them put an extended beavertail on it. I'll stick with the cheap options, though. :D

$400 is a steal on even a stock Browning. I see the FEG copies come close to that price occasionally. I have a friend that has been going into the same pawn shop for two years trying to get them to sell the same Browning Hi Power to him for $500 (with no luck, obviously).

As for magazines, I'd go with MecGar. I don't know how true it is, but I've been told they make the Browning factory mags. Regardless, they're just as good as the factory mags. You can get 'em for $20 if you catch them on sale. I think that's what I paid for the last one I bought at a gun show, too.

I wish I would have kept the target. It is a sweet shooter. I went to a indoor range and shot at a basic man target. First shot at about 10 yards hit the X:what: I thought what did I get my hands on here. The next 10 were not far from the first. My buddy shot it and asked me if I was planning on selling it anytime soon:) I told him when I die. We shot a little over 100 rounds out of it and no jams or misfires. I found a new browning hi-power standard (adjust sights, blue finish, wooden grips) for $599. I am thinking about getting that one also. I think I will have a gunsmith put the same hammer as the one I have on this one. They might not be the most pretty gun on the market, but the balance and feel is everything I look for in a pistol. I will check on more mags for it. Would everyone say that MecGar is a good one to go with? Where else could I find extra mags for these sweet shooters? Thanks everyone!

Good report. I can't think of anything I like to hear more than...it shot very well and was reliable.

Mec-Gar can be obtained online from guns4ever.com midwayusa.com

I recently bought some 15 round Mec-Gars from guns4ever.com because they were not law enforcement only (LEO) marked. They are brand new production from Mec-Gar in Italy. I don't know if Midway mags are or are not marked.

I wish you continued good shooting.
