Just curious what are reasonable prices for browning high powers, not sure of the model, but they are both 9mm in the 470-490 range. are these good prices?

Yes. Prices vary by location but if you can walk out the door paying that, you're at least a $100 to $150 ahead around here even more if its chrome. I've seen used hipowers going for more than that.

The newest CDNN catalog, which can be downloaded from their site, has a number of Belgian-made FN BHPs at very reasonable prices. Also some of the newer models (about which I know zip) at even lower prices. A top of the line, new Belgian-made BHP in 9mm or .40 S&W can be had for under $500, with nice checkered wood grips.

Just to echo Walt, got my .40 cal FN Hi power through CDNN Investments and have been extremely pleased with the whole experience. Mine is the Mk III with the SFS (safe fast shooting) system, manufactured and assembled in Belgium, matte black finish with FN's rollmark. It was on sale at $449. They also have polished blue in this model as well as the SA and DAO versions; full size or compact.

I am aware of cdnn, but I am speaking about Genuine Browning hp's, but I guess that is a good price then.

Yes it is a good price, especially considering that a CDNN gun may be $450-500 but thats without shipping or paying your FFL. If the gun is already at your shop you skip those steps.

Your "genuine" Browning Hi-Power is a Hi-Power made by FN sold under Browning distribution. Browning does not make the gun so I'm not sure what you mean by genuine.

From my understanding, CDNN has a very reasonable flat shipping cost for handguns. The real question would be finding a FFL with a decent fee structure on your end. Here in the PRK, I've seen prices as high as $85 or 10% of the gun price, whichever is higher....

ouch on the transfer fee, only 20 dollars here. I thought the originals were made by browning, no? my bad, not to up on hi powers, just having seen em go for 600 or so and up on gunbroker and other places, I thought for 480 they may be worth trying out

and actually, if you check cdnn, in addition to the fn hipowers, they also have browning highpowers for more money, I believe they do make the gun, anyway, these are older brownings not clones and they have the blue like old colts, not the matte black kind of finish of the fn's and newer guns.

Retail price for FN marked HiPowers in S.E. PA is $500, while Browning marked HPs are approx. $150 more. Same gun, different finish and roll marks. All FNs and Brownings come from same factory in Belguim and may or may not be assembled in Portugal.

Browning does NOT make the gun. They market and distribute. It has nothing to do with being a clone. There are HP clones out there. The Browning pistols are from FN.

Those under the Browning name tend to have higher quality finishes in the blue and hard chrome versions, but the base Browning MkIII was of the same finish quality as the FN version. To the best of my knowledge, FN is only selling the matte finished pistol.

From what I have seen, Blued and Hard Chrome HP's were in the $650 range. MkIII's were as much as $100 less. The CDNN price is a very attractive one.

Generally speaking in my area, MKIII Hi-powers (FN or Browning) run right around $500. Used doesn't fare much better. They seem to retain value pretty well. The ajustable sighted guns, when I find then, usually run $550 new (seems I never see them used). HP Practicals (Browning only & the style I personally like the best) are running anywhere from $600-650 new. Saw a new one at the gunshow last week for $575 and I was sorely tempted, but passed since I'm still recovering from a P7M13 purchase earlier this month.
