I bought a new Browning X-bolt in 308 yesterday and cleaned it, installed a Leupold, etc. today. The problem is the magazine will accept four rounds, as it should, but the topped off mag is impossible to insert into the rifle with the bolt closed. It goes in fine with three rounds or with the bolt open. I'm going to call customer service tomorrow but I was wondering if anyone here has had that problem or can offer any insight. It's not really a deal breaker but this gun wasn't cheap and I'd like to work as designed.

Got any ideas? TIA

I have the xbolt in .243 win.

The mag WILL click in to place as it should but it is a very tight fit. Tilt it in from the back and then push up on the front and it should click in but it will take pushing harder than it does with the bolt open.

Thanks for the reply Lupinus, you made me take a better look. I wasn't getting the top cartridge absolutely to the back of the mag and the bullet tip was hanging things up. Typical user error. :uhoh:

Thanks again, Jim.
