Browning Pro 9

caveat: I haven't fired one- yet.

It feels pretty good to my hand- sort of like a BHP in plastic, and much lighter. Pulling through the trigger is interesting in a good way, but I don't know if it would be amenable to 'extra' smoothing but I suspect it'd smooth up more in 500 cycles or less.

The fit and finish on the one I held looked quite acceptable. Everything looks to be well engineered. I might consider one if I were in the market for something other than a SIG or a CZ...and I'm a BHP fan.

It ain't no P220 :D . You thinking about getting a new toy?

Regards,
Rabbit.

No, not really Rabbit my friend. I just happened to like the looks and
feel of the Browning Pro 9. I'm still enjoying my love affair with the
.45 caliber SIG P220; so much so, that I probably will never seek any
other DA/SA semi-auto. But, running a close second is the Springfield
WW-II "G.I." .45 ACP. Of course, with it being a SA I'm having too get
used to its fire control system again! :uhoh: :) :D

Me too. Maybe SWMBO would like to have one and give me back my P220, PCR, and BHP. For that matter, I can always spring for another Browning :D

I suppose I'll go back to my favorite Daddy Daycare and Gunshop and look at it a little longer.

Regards,
Rabbit.

Made in Ogden, Utah? I'll pass then...Still can't get decent 25 yard groups with my BDM and BPM.

the browning pro 9 is the import US version of the FNp-9 which i think is a good gun put i have problems with the controls when i looked at one in the store. there are already many threads here on the fnp9 so look for info there :)

I like the FNP9 a lot. It's accurate, reliable, fits very well, and the DA/SA are on the same level as a SIG Classic.

Chances are that the Browning Pro-9 is made in South Carolina at FN Manufacturing.

Great guns though. Buy one and watch that SIG collect dust in the safe.

I have a Browning Pro 9 I love this gun, mine has the best trigger I have ever felt from a DA gun. I also have a Sig 220 ST it hasn't been as reliable as my Pro 9, had 8 failer to feed's (set the bullet back into the case) out of the first 100 rounds, not putting Sigs down I really like my Sig but I will not carry it due to the feeding problems I had. I have seen alot of posts where people have not had any jams with their 220's, I'm going to try some different ammo when I go back to the range. It is one of the most accurate guns (the Sig) I have.

The Pro 9 has a disconnect. I had one.
The only thing I didn't like was it was a little too bulky for me to carry comfortably, and they are not in demand around here (Indy). When I traded it I couldn't get much for it because nobody was interested in it.

Anybody have an intro date for the PRO-9? I am in the market for a FNP-9 and am hoping (I'm sure in vain) that the PRO-9 has pre '94 hi-cap mags in existance.

I handled a Pro-40 today and was REAL impressed. Cocked & Locked (with the safety on the frame where it should be) OR traditional DA/SA all in one gun. Push down with a little more force on the safety and it de-cocks the hammer. If I could confirm the existence of hi-cap mags for it, my wallet would be alot lighter.

I thought that the FN p-9 is DAO while the Pro9 is TDA/SA and can also be carried cocked & locked.

PS: The Pro-9 DOES comes with two 16-round mags and more can be ordered.

I was reading a cross-post where the PNP9/Pro 9 has a warning in the manual about NOT using teflon or some other kind of chemicals found commonly in Break Free, Rem Oil, and Militec. Something about polymer frame's break-down if exposed to such chemicals.

Is this true or is it Errornet rumors?

If it is true, it would suck to know the polymer is that weak, compared to the Glocks, USPs, and othe polymer guns.

Clarification would be greatly appreciated.

I also have an FNP-9. It came with three sixteen rd mags and does not have a magazine disconnect. The sights are very well regulated. In fact it is the only fixed sight auto I have ever owned that shot to point of aim out of the box. Now, if I could only find a holster.
