Any comments ? Thinking of purchasing a BT-99 Micro for the wife and wondered how the recoil was on these guns. They are a tad lighter than the standard model

My BT-99 is a pretty soft shooter. I don't think you'll have much of a problem.

If you shoot 1 oz loads, that would help too.

I also know they make a LOT of recoil reduction pieces for the BT-99.

I'd say GO FOR IT!

7 3/4 lb. for the lightest version?

That's as heavy as or heavier than most full-size 12 Gauge field guns.

Not much to worry about. It has a big recoil pad.

My standard BT-99 pad was damaged, so I replaced it with a Limbsaver. Recoil, schmecoil. Gra-coils and such are effective, but they also change the balance of the gun dramatically. Limbsaver works fine for me, and it's cheap, too. My shoulder never feels a thing.

I shoot handloaded 1 oz. at 1250 or so as my standard trap load. Were it not for my club-mates' penchant for masochism, 27-yard and progressive wobbles, I'd shoot a lighter load. 1 oz. at 1145 is fine for American Trap until you get behind the 23.

Hell, some people shoot low-velocity loads at 27, but that's too much conscious adjustment for my taste. I want a progressive to be a no-brainer, with natural leads.

AB...Thanks....Question ....does Limbsaver make a pre-fit Pad for the 99? Just in case we have to make a switch?

By the way ..I graduated her to a 12 ga. about a month ago from a 20.
She's shot my field 870 with little or no problems. I put on a youth stock ,so she had the proper LOP. I want to get a gun (just for her) for Xmas, and know the BT's reputation. Not only that I like brownings..thanks again

No.

However, one of the grind-to-fit pads happened to fit my BT stock within 1/16" all around, with a little shift to the two screw holes with my Dremel. I never did bother with sandpaper-fitting down to that last 1/16", as it helps protect the corners of the buttstock in the range rack anyway. It's as good as a pre-fit pad, for my purposes.

Also, Limbsaver has PDF files on their website, so you can match up your butt with the full-size drawings. This allows you to find one that's really close, if not exact.

I don't know if all BT buttstocks have the same dimensions at the pad, since they have made several variants over the years, and they make several variants at the moment.:)

AB ok thanks. Will see how it goes, and if it needs another pad I'll look at the limbsaver and a grind to fit if need be. I a limbsaver on the 870 and it really tamed that gun.
In any case the BT-99 mico was ordered today......hope I get it for Xmas to put under the tree for her. If not, it wont matter, I can put the picture in a box,...... It will make her happy whenever it arrives.
