I had a funny idea. I've got some JHP .25's, as I said I would test in my last thread about them, I would love to put ballistic tips into. Honestly just for sh*ts and giggles. Looking to make them look like those Hornady Critical Defense bullets with that red insert. I was thinking of using the glue gun with red glue to fill them up. I'm kinda interested if these would actually work with this little caliber so I plan to test them. Please don't criticize me for thinking of doing this, I just have too much fun with this stuff. Next time I'll figure out putting ballistic tips on .454 swagged lead balls. :neener:

Yes I have thought of that. I'm just curious if anyone actually has experience. :uhoh:

If it involves ME and a hot glue gun, there WILL be burned fingers involved. And I still have not learned how to control the impulse to immediately put the burning finger in my mouth - hot glue on your lip or tongue is even worse.

Guns don't kill people, hot glue might.

Why not use silicone caulk?

I second this. Silicone is more flexible and more likely to flow and initiate expansion on the HP. The hot melt glue I have seen seems more solid and likely to be an obstruction to expansion.

Heck, try both. Would be interesting to see if there is a difference in expansion.

The subject came up a while back, some guy was going to put foreign material in his hollowpoints to make them into Hornadys. We never did hear back from him about how well they worked, though.

We were dripping melted candle wax in cast lead HP bullets about 1963 or 64.
It works great in .357 & .44 Magnum.
If you want red, use a red candle.

Will it work in .25 ACP?
Probably not.

I have never got one of those old Winchester .25 ACP JHP with the ball in the end to expand in anything, short of shooting a steel plate with them.
