I've found some great information on side-rail mount AK optics here and at Tantal's retail site - http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/collimator.html . Now I need to pull the proverbial trigger and buy one.
I need something better than the crap iron sights that came on my WASR. They are very hard to see in anything but the best lighting conditions and they are still slow to bring on a target.
I need a side-rail mount AK sight under $250 that...
1a. Is durable (SHTF use _always_ a consideration)
1b. and/or allows me to use my iron sights or the red-dot without power when all else fails
2. Allows me to acquire targets quickly at close range and to hit a torso out to 200 yards (rifle/shooter permitting). I rarely shoot past 100 yards.
3. Does not magnify the image
4. Can be removed to clean the rifle without losing alignment
It seems to be between the Kobra and the PK. But which PK? Why Kobra vs PK? Anything else? This is a big purchase for a guy who takes pride in his $300 rifle - I don't want to mess this up.
