I've got the KAC front rail kit for an M14:

Which sight would be the best for this set-up? Ideally I like something non-obtrusive, like a Doctor Optic red-dot:

Will a Doctor Red-dot co-witness, can you mount them to picatinny rails or only to ACOG scopes? Is an EOTech as bulky as they appear?

I sure like the style of an Eotech over an Aimpoint, the aimpoint isn't as smooth, and looks like somthing that might bug if hiking while slung.

How about the Russian Kobra ones, they seem smaller than an EoTech but bigger than a DocOp, are they a good compromise?http://tantal.kalashnikov.guns.ru/bstkobra.html

Also forgot the Trijicon Tripower & Russian PK-AS. Russian has a black-dot with no power and red-dot with, and Trijicon has a chevron for better aiming, and 3 types of power so you always have something.

I used an Aimpoint 2x model 7000 on my M1 Garand with a forward mount with great success, or at least I am quite pleased with the setup. I'm sure that the same would work well on your M1a.

The rail you are using look quite a bit taller than the ultimak so I am not sure about the Docter sight being coincident.

Here's the Ultimak. Note that it is level with the receiver.

Here;s my M1a with ultimak and Burris fastfire. Looks like even the Ultimak might be too high for the fastfire to be coincident. It's close. Depends on how much rear sight elevation you have. This is a ghost ring rear sight.

Good eye GunTech, the KAC RAS does sit a bit high - no co-witness with the KAC.

I am thinking I can drill and tap the back of the ultimak (neared the ejection port) and mount the FastFire directly to the mount, without the bottom piece, and lower the sight at least 3/16 inch. That should definitely fix the coincidence problem with the Ultimak - if there is one. i'll have to shoot and see.

I have the accessory for you. Sage is making a version of their stock for the M1 Garand!

Look closely at the picture. That's no M1A!
