How much do those run? Are there any obvious cost cutting measures, plastic etc.
There are no obvious cost cutting measures. This runs about $1000 out the door. The action and trigger are amazing. The trigger guard is metal. All items are metal or wood. The stock is made of Beech and not walnut.

Classic model with dark-stained beechwood stock
• Neutral cast for both left- and right-handed shooters
• Cold hammer-forged original SAUER barrel
• Three-position safety
• Three-lug bolt head
• 60-degree bolt lift
• EVER REST action bedding

• Trigger adjustable from 2.2 to 4.2 lbs
• Double-stack magazine
• 5+1 round capacity in standard calibers
• 4+1 round capacity in mini and magnum calibers
• Suitable for all Remington 700 scope bases. We recommend the SAUER Hexalock mount.

The higher price of the Sauer 100 is worth the extra money, the Sauer trigger and I believe the safety is metal and the trigger guard like mentioned. I like synthetic stock in the Sauer better then the m18 and the beach is nice tho I'd pay more for walnut. I like the bolt knob better on the m18 and tho the trigger is polymer it is incredibly stiff, I've seen metal trigger flex more. I had to take the m18 apart to confirm the safety lever was plastic because it's hard to tell, again it's very ridged.

the U.S. Market m18 and sauer 100 have screw on barrels and look pretty easy to have one make up, the other market guns are pressfit/ thermal locked in.

I picked up a Steyr Prohunter on closeout a while back. Heavy but shoots good.
Next rig might be CL II
