Any suggestions for one & a mount? I prefer something with magnification. It is going on a .308

i've heard Barksa and Tru Glo make very good red dots, but i havent had the chance to set mine up. I'll be going with a Barksa and the low profile AK Rail Mount.

If you can eek out a few more $$$ I would say a Kobra red dot. It's a Russian optic designed to go on a Russian rifle.

The Kobra is designed to clamp on to the rail on the left side of your Saiga. This is a much better setup then some of the other AK scope mounts out there since it's more stable. The sight itself is very solid (russian steel!) for the money, not like some of the cheap non-brandname sight out there. The only downside is that it doesn't provide any magnification. In my opinion that's okay since the AK was never meant to be a distance rifle. I paid about $150 for my kobra but they are starting to get scarce. This isn't a bad deal.

Which version of the Saiga do you have?

There are many that will side mount. I'm not looking to spend $150. I have a .308

Ok scratch the Kobra if you have a .308. All the SVD style scopes will fit but will be outside of your price range. Your best bet is to buy a scope mount that still uses the side rail but gives you the ability to use weaver-rings and any scope you please. This would be an example. As for the foregrip I'm not sure is they make any for the .308 Saiga's. You may have to buy the rails and mount them yourself to the foregrip.

Also, check out the J&G Sales website. You should be able to get a mount and scope and stay in budget.

Pick the one with the best warranty remember you have a .308 not a .223 or 7.62x39. With those scopes you are looking at and a .308 it is a crap shoot whether they will handle the recoil. You have to add a side mount the cheapest good mount is the UTG quick release mount. Honestly I would just shoot with your irons until you can afford to at least buy Nikon Pro Staff or Bushnell 3200 or Weaver Classic scope or some minimum decent scope. 3-9x40 scopes generally offer the best bang for buck these days.
