I was just curious if anyone else had purchased this pistol:
http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/cPath/21_231/products_id/411548803/EAA+Witness+Polymer+9mm
(sorry for some reason the link function wont work with this page)

I bought the gun a week ago and while I'm aware that buds doesn't necessarily display the correct image, i figured they would have the dimensions of it correct. The dimensions they have listed are 7.3" overall length, mine is about 8.1". Dont get me wrong, I am very happy with the gun so far. I'm mainly just wondering if i got a more expensive/different model than other customers who have ordered the same pistol.

Here is the gun they have displayed:

And this is the pistol i received:

Their picture is the compact and the one you received is the full size.

Not only is the picture wrong but on Buds they give description for a barrel length and magazine capacity from the full size and length of the gun for the compact, then they picture the compact. Weird.

Weird perfectly describes it. I'm curious if others have purchased the same item and received the compact or if they only ship the full size. It's definitely a misleading description, like i said i am happy with the pistol but others may want to take note if they're expecting the compact size.

I have bought several guns from Buds. They are really friendly if they aren't overwhelmed. Buds sells over 300 guns a day. When you do that much business mistakes happen.

I've heard several times people buying either the polished or matte finish stainless steel CZ75b and getting the wrong one from what was pictured from Buds.
They either need to make the picture 100% right or the descriptions 100% so we all know what to look for when deciphering what they are trying to sell us.
They don't have to have both the picture and description exact  but at least one so we know what we are dealing with sight unseen. Yours had everything
all confused on that page. Makes you wonder out of the 300 guns each day going out day, how many are the wrong gun?

My thoughts precisely. On the plus side it was shipped the day i bought it and i received the pistol really fast. I will email them tomorrow and see if they can clarify the description.

Davidsons has the same gun with the same specs. I wonder if the manufacturer provided the wrong info.

That one on Davidsons appears to actually be the compact model. It has the 3.6" barrel listed whereas bud's says 4.5" barrel. You could be right that its the manufacturers fault. Maybe someone else will chime in who bought the same item on buds and we can compare results.

No, the picture is the semi-compact "carry" model; Full size frame with Compact upper.

The Compact model has a much shorter grip frame:

I have the exact pistol that is shown in the 1st picture posted. It is indeed the Tanfoglio Force/Carry. It is not the Compact nor the "full size".

I believe it is very similar to the Force/Police. Someone correct me if I am mistaken.

Well, now that is cleared up. We all know 100% that the full size gun ripewithdecay has is not a carry as pictured or compact as described from length.
To answer the questions in the OP - from what I saw when I was shopping for a Witness a while back, all the poly versions were about the same price.
So nothing was gained or lost from buying a gun pictured as a carry, listed in detail as a full size and/or compact and sold in the end as a full size. Unless
that is, you count the element of getting a "surprise" gun as a negative or positive. For $300 though, you can't really complain about that great deal.

Buds should advertise: Spin the "Wheel of guns" and see what we send you. Land on the right gun and you also get a free vacation.

The same thing happened to me but I ordered my gun from Impact Guns. Their website used the same picture and advertised it as a 3.6 inch barrel and when it arrived it had the 4.5 inch barrel. After a lot of double checking we found that the SKU numbers are the same for the 3.6 and 4.5 inch versions. I actually liked the 4.5 inch barrel better, at the time I didn't even know it existed, so I kept it even though they offered to refund my money. The guns are built on Tanfoglio's small frame, as opposed to the large frame built for 45 and 10mm, which 9mm has trouble feeding through. EAA stopped importing small frame 9mm and 40 pistols in 2005 even though Tanfoglio still makes them, after 2005 all Witness 9mms and 40s are large framed. It has to do with the compatibility of their conversion kits. The guns we got are the Force 99 and the one with the 3.6 inch barrel is the Force Police. EAA's website does not show these guns but they are, obviously, importing them, and at a good price. Impact Guns' website still shows a picture of the 3.6 inch version but they have changed the description to a 4.5 inch barrel.

Sounds like it could be a common mistake then with these pistols. So does EAA make a conversion kit for the frames we have? I was kicking around the idea of getting the .22 for some cheap shooting.

The answer is I'm not sure. You would need to call them. I'm pretty sure Tanfoglio makes them but whether or not EAA imports them or has them in stock only they could answer for sure. Their number is 321-639-4842.

I havent bought this specific pistol, but on the subject of Buds descriptions it seems that they have a few goofs here and there. I've seen some at times while browsing their inventory. I purchased 2 Sig P250s from buds a while back. They were described as compact stainless with night sights. I got the compact and stainless on both, but only one came with the described sights. The other that came with regular contrast sights also was an older model/gen so the mags didn't interchange. No mention of that either. They made good by giving a credit, so I used it and ended up with a $10 mosin 91/30.

I've bought several firearms from Buds and they will have the disclaimer that the item pictured may not be what you are shopping for, so geting specs wrong with the volume they do is expected, still will buy from them again.

I got some info on the .22 conversion. The item number is #109910. Also this gun is no longer available on Buds website, so i guess i got one of the last ones.

Actually the gun is back up for sale on buds, now 22$ more. I picked a good time to buy. Also they responded to my email immediately and changed the picture ( as you can see in my original post ) and description of the gun.
