I recently bought a witness in 9mm and it only came with one 10 round magazine. i would like to buy a couple more, but searching online there is a lot of different magazines available. 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, and 18 round magazines. which will work well with my pistol? i would like higher capacity, but don't want to spend 20+ bucks per magazine if they won't work well.
my witness looks just like this one:

for example, which of these two magazines would work?

Your best bet is to call EAA and give them the serial number of your pistol and then order the correct mags from them. There are too many variations over the years.

Um, the CZ-75, Witness baby eagle/Jericho etc. family is one of the largest family of firearms and MOST have fully interchangeable mags. REALLY shouldn't be hard to find one.

But, Shadow, I understand the Tanfoglios to have two different size frames; hard to fit 10mm into the handle of a gun with the same external dimensions as a CZ 75. As I understand it, some Tang' 9mm's are small framed, and thus may have compatibility with the guns you list; some are large frame, which allows them to be converted to .40/.45/10mm, but may not have compatibility. In addition, problems with Tanfoglio magazines are storied, and they have changed design, and even source, within the last couple of years.

The OP needs to know, I think, whether he has a large or small frame gun.

Fair enough. But the Witness line, which they do sell under their own name, has the large/small frame issue, as I understand it.

I wasn't trying to start an argument or ask a dumb question. I just want to know which are reliable because it seems there is a lot of options for magazines for this pistol and I don't want to buy the 18 round magazine if they aren't as reliable as the 17 or 16 round mags. Thanks to the people who answered and didn't act like I was a retard.

Can't see the link to look at your gun.
Wally is correct, call EAA with your serial number and they will tell you the proper mag for your gun.
I have several frames (4), I bought all small frames so the mags will interchange.
My frames will also accept and work well with the CZ shadow 18 rd mags, you can also get them from meggar a little cheaper.

Thanks for the advice. I called EAA this morning and gave them my serial number. Only the 10 round and 16 round mags will work with my pistol. It is a small frame. Thanks again

What they told you applies only to EAA mags, which helps you avoid buying large frame mags.

CZ, Baby Eagle, and several other guns (all but the CZ made by Tanfoglio) have mags that will work, too, and some of them are 15 rounders. I suspect the new CZ 17-round mags would work, too, as they're made for the smaller frame -- but don't buy one of them until you've had a chance to see if they'll fit.

Stick with the ones EAA recommends if you're buying from the internet and can't ask questions, but at a gun show, you should be able to find plenty. Take your gun, or take a mag. As long as they're not for "compact" guns, and fit the small frame grip, you should be alright.

CDNN has all that you'd want at reasonable prices, as do a number of other online vendors.

I've used Baby Eagle, Tanfoglio, Witness, and CZ magazines interchangeably in all of those guns, over the years. None of the ones I'm talking about where based on the large frame, but some of the mags were 10 rounders, some were 15 rounders, and some (Tanfoglios) were 16 rounders.
