Bud's Gun Shop Prices Rising?

As stock is sold, it is replaced. If it costs more to replace it, they raise the price. (It costs them more, so it costs you more.) They could be like gas stations and raise the price of the fuel already in stock, but instead they sell it at the old price and raise the price when they replenish their stock.

Kudos to Bud's for keeping their prices as low as possible.

If your 17 was really in 85% condition, it wouldn't be worth more than $300 or $350 at retail around here

I got $350 in trade out of it, trading for the exact same gun (plain Kimber Custom II) in another store.

So at Bud's the trade was $550 + my m17 plus taxes; at other store it was my M17 and $300, no taxes. Other store also had lower price at the end. Used to be their retail store had much higher prices than ones listed on the website, depending on who waited on you they might haggle.

Dealing with Bud's retail store, they've do some crazy stuff. I ask if they have a 686 in stock. Guy looks in back and brings out one with a tag on it, explaining. "That's a gunshow price, it's higher than that if you want to buy it." ***!

They have improved over time, and listing which guns are in retail now help me out considerably for us locals.

I find this to be the case at every gun shop, pawn shop, and Big Box Store that I've visited. One gun store guy wouldn't even look up from his solitaire computer game to talk to me. It's like if they don't know you they don't want to talk to you.

I don't like salespeople swarming all over me but some attention would be nice. And don't treat me as if I'm ignorant. Even if I am. Show me your knowledge and some salesmanship.

These businesses could use a little "used car sales training". You know, sell me something and make me feel good about it. Even though I know I'm taking it in the south end.

Sorry for digressing off topic but Viking's post hit a nerve with me.

Last time I was in there I was trading off a SW 17. 85% gun, nice little .22.

I got offered $150 for it. New young guy waited on me, went into back to get price. I told him that was ridiculous. I took it to JR, he did same thing. I haven't been back since, although I've bought several guns there. JR knows me by name. If I go back, I'll look for Jim (tall skinny guy) he's great to deal with.

The reason the "new guy" wanted to go in the back was simply to see Gurney (our website used gun trade-in guy). There is a reason Gurney is the ONLY guy who accepts trades for us on the website...and for that same reason, we try to have him evaluate all our retail store trades as well. Gurney only works M-F, so they guys out in the retail store have to "fly solo" on Saturday, but they do defer to Gurney on trade value whenever possible. The main issue is that we actually WANT MORE TRADES. The guys out front were sometimes refusing trades that we would find out about later and wish we had accepted. After hearing of multiple cases of this, we basically told the guys out front that you DO NOT refuse a trade under any circumstances unless you have first run the trade past Gurney.

So, the "new guy" out front was not trying to play games with you, he was just doing as he was told...."take all trades to Gurney". JR now also works in the internet department (no longer in retail)...and he will also defer to Gurney on all trades.

^ What a wonderful world it would be if you guys could do trades over the net. A logistical hell I'd assume, but it would be great.

Are you kidding ? We have one guy (Gurney) dedicated solely to internet trades. We have a picture of Gurney on our home page with a link to his email that says "Trade with Gurney". We take trades over the phone/email every day...and we have made some VERY happy customers with our trades.

If you have something to trade....just email [email protected] or call 859-987-9929 and ask for Gurney.

Man.....I really need to do a better job of getting the word out....we really love to trade !!!!

Holy hossenfeffer! I'm an idiot! I load your site at least twice a day. COOOOL!

I really never noticed.

Edit: I see it now. I've noticed the picture, but never read the writing. Oh yea, make the font bigger.

I just used Bud's for a recent purchase. The price ultimately charged for two revolvers WAS LESS than quoted over the phone! Note that the quoted price was quite reasonable to start with.

I also requested a DELAYED ship date to my FFL and it arrived on the exact date that I had requested. I received e-mails at every step of the process and couldn't be more satisfied.

I have had nothing but positive experiences with Bud's and will definitely be doing more business with them in the future.
