I am about to order a police trade-in from Buds Gun Shop.
Any one out there with some experience (Good or Bad) with Buds??

Thanks,
P.R.

Sure, it is local for me here in Lexington Kentucky where they are located. Now I for the most part walk in and order so don't deal often with the web page though I have. I have never had a problem with them at all and considering how many guns a day they sell on average I'm surprised they don't get a lot more complaints though I've seen some not many and all where resolved.

So far I have purchased two rifles from them got what I ordered in record time. Just be sure to use one of their prefered FFL's to receive the gun and you wont have any issues.
Also unpack the gun and inspect it before you officially receive it as Buds recomends.
I also purchase the insurance every time just to be safe. I dont remember the cost on the first gun but the second one only cost 3.00 to insure kind of a no brainer.

I've bought three guns from Bud's, once two at a time. Reasonably fast shipping confirmation, reliable tracking data, low-competitive prices. Like joecil, I recommend insurance no matter from whom you buy.

Don't forget to contact your FFL before you place the order, just to make sure everything is on track. You don't want the FFL to be surprised.

I'd order from Bud's again without a doubt. I have been to the store in Lexington also. Nice facility, but on the day I was there they were OOS on the rifle I sought. Maybe next time.

I've had only one buds transaction and it was painless. They had the best price on the gun I wanted with shipping included.

I have purchased five guns from them and have had great luck. Fast shipping, good communications as long as you don't want to talk to them on the phone. Email is the way to go.

I have a order pending now. I sent them a a personal check as it that under the minimal for electronic withdraw. They sent me a email as soon as the received it and now are holding it 5 business days to clear. I would not worry at all placing a order of any amount.

One gun, a number of accessories. All painless. Remember, however, that their prices are for cash. Add 3% for Credit Card. USPS Money Order gets you cash discount and no delay for check to clear.

One experience with them. They were backlogged buit after calling I got someone on it who got my gun to me pretty quickly. I think they are a good outfit.

4 Buds purchases so far. No problems whatsoever.
2 of these are the Australian Police trade in revolvers.
They show a fair bit of wear, but are both tight and accurate shooters:

My second handgun just arrived from Bud's yesterday. Never a problem. Ordering online is just about as easy as calling them on the phone.

If you deal by phone, some of their phone sales peaple are more like telemarketers - very friendly and polite, but maybe not able to answer technical questions.

But I'd definitely recommend them. When you can save $150 off an expensive item, go for it. On the other hand, I wouldn't forsake local small shops because you can $25 through Bud's. Patronize the local folks when you can.

I have ordered one gun from Buds. The transaction went through smoothly.

In my area, there are several FFL's that have a searing hatred for Buds. One shop owner went on a 15 minute rant about how he was losing sales to them. Another shop has a sign posted that states that transfers done for Buds gun shop costs $75.00. Normal transfer fee is $25.00. Another shop has quit accepting transfers from Bud's.......at least that's what they said. I would make sure to use one of their preferred FFL's or test the waters with your preferred shop.

I just recently bought my third gun from Buds in three years. I have generally been pleased with the experience. I dislike not being able to pick up the phone and talk to someone regarding a potential gun trade. The email turnaround time was 1-2 days which is a bit nerve racking when you expect an answer within 4 hours.

On the other hand shipping has been fast and the item has been as described. When I bought my latest used gun I thought about using a USPS money order, but the fine print said they could sell your gun while waiting on the money. 3% CC fee of $23 seemed like a small price to pay to guarantee the gun.

I had my credit card information stolen using their website. They sent out a notification to all of their customers informing us of the breech. Someone tried to use my credit card, but my credit card company denied the charge. I think they have improved their security, but I will use a prepaid card in the future.

I had a flawless transaction with them. I like their layaway purchase program. I have noticed recently their prices aren't as good as they used to be.

I've made several purchases from Bud's over the years. All were smooth as silk. Good prices with shipping included, and great service. They're top shelf all the way.
