I found this gun and its nice!! and cheap also!!!
its a smith and wesson 1911 5 inch in chrome.. and its 689 and buds gun shop plus 25 shipping and 35 for transfer fee here... but its online.. this is what i think im going to do.. go to my dealer... as for a copy of their ffl and then fax it to buds right? then pay for it online and then pick it up at my dealer... what if buds already has a copy of their ffl??? its just soo confusing...cant i just contact buds.. ask if they have a copy of my dealers ffl then go to my dealer and tell them i ordered a gun thats going to be arriving there?

Proper courtesy is first ask the dealer if it's ok for you to have a firearm shipped to them. If Bud's has your dealer's FFL then your dealer should also have theirs. If your dealer confirms that they're on file with Bud's they'll tell you their transfer fee. Sometimes you pay it up front, sometimes you pay it when the gun comes in, dealer's discretion.

If your dealer isn't on file with Buds & vice versa they'll likely charge you the transfer fee up front and fax their FFL to Bud's for you or furnish you a signed copy to send to Bud's. You can either call Bud's, purchase the gun and then find an FFL to recieve it; or you can get the FFLs mutually established and then call Bud's to purchase the gun.

Hopefully that's helpful, but if anything is unclear ask and I or someone else will help clarify it.

You definitely do have to ask the dealer first, not just out of consideration, but to make sure they'll accept the shipment and do the transfer.

P.S. ..chrome ? I think you mean stainless .. not the same thing

Bus's has a database of current FFL's on file. Just search the web site. It's pretty handy...
