Lots of good mags for 7.62 39. The only reason I posted is the constant Internet info about problems with the AR chambered in the russian around. It is a lot of misinformation. They work great. Just because there were teething problems 25 years ago does not mean there are problems now. It is called progress.

Shooting cheap commie ammo in a PSA 7.62x 39 upper is just one of things I want to do, but I also want to put a super bolt in the upper in an effort to avoid lug failures. I consider the PSA on my Colt AR-15 lower a toy for range fun only.

I've broken several bolts including 7.62x39 in an AR, it was not a catastrophic failure -- one lug sheared off, I had had a feed failure, probably from the broken part jamming up the works, unbeknown to me at the time. I cleared the jam and kept shooting. Only noticed it was broken when I cleaned it.

The CMMG mutant is fantastic, mine nails 6" steel plates at 300 yards with Wolf steel cased ammo, but if all you want is to shoot cheap 7.62x39 ammo in an AR the 7.62x39 upper for your existing lower is a lot less expensive!
how many shots do you think you got out of 5.56 bolt and he 39 bolt ? yes the mutant is a little pricy but an AK or a used junk SKS now $500 and the custom AK's are $1000. What was the retail on the Mutant you have if you don't mind?

I have to look it up but what do they do to the "super" bolt?

Bud's is probably the best quick current price reference, if they have it in stock it'll usually be a "price to beat" but if its not in stock, the prices listed are usually lower than what you can expect to find. I paid $1250 + shipping and transfer fees late September 2016.

Less than 500, I wasn't counting. In all cases I put them clearly in the "infant mortality" failure regime, as it was only the second or third outing. Replacements have had no issues for 1000s of rounds.

My advice is shoot it as it comes, if something breaks fix it and move on (take advantage of any warranty), but I'd not spend money on replacing working parts with ones claimed to be "better", YMMV.

This is off thread, but is ejector, pin, and spring for AR-15 .223/5.56 bolt same as those parts in 7.62 x 39 AR-15 bolt? Are they interchangeable? I can't find ejector for 7.62 and was wondering if it is same part in both calibers.
