So I'm considering building one of these or both. Has anyone built both? how's the accuracy when comparing the two (.223)?

I would probably use a saiga conversion using dinzag parts unless there's something better.

with an m4-like build, I'd probably do a del-ton, stag, or rock river 16" chrome-lined upper and cheapest lower I can get my hands on. Mainly I'm looking for reliability, but accuracy will come a close second.

Most shots would be within 200 yards.

Any additional advise or comments about parts and stuff welcome.

in case there's any confusion about what I was kinda looking for:

I was thinking someone might be able to say like...

the delton kit will give u 1 MOA accuracy while the saiga would be more like 3MOA .. unless of course you shot them after rolling around in the mud for 3 days.

i own both rifles a CMMG M4 and a Saiga .223 with a 20'' barrel, they are complete differente rifles, a saiga .223 use a 1:10 twist and it's very accurate with 55gr bullets and a M4 use the 1:9 or 1:7 twistwhich is very accurate with hevier bullets, with the right bullet for each rifle they can be scary accurate (1moa or less), but if you use the wrong bullet, well..you'll have them all over the place. (about 3 moa)

i am going this thrusday to the range to do a side-by-side test on both rifles at 25,50,100, and 200 yards using ironsight and optics. but i can tell that the CMMG M4 is a little more accurate than my Saiga but for .5moa both are under 2moas

I'd tend to lean towards the AR when it comes to accuracy. However, as far as Kalashnikov designs go, Saigas have a rep for great accuracy.

I gotta say, you can get a saiga, to do 1 moa, if you put your mind to it. I've had a couple that would do it, but that is not what I have the saiga for; it is more for hunting piggies and such, and I don't worry about slopping around with it. Also for zombies and end or world scenery. The ar, will get you to moa, more likely and faster. But the Saiga, just bone stock, or just a simple conversion, is pretty tough to beat.
Use Esential Arms for a lower, everyone else seems to, and they are spec, and they are pretty cheap.

built a Del-Ton AR HBAR middy in .223

converted a 16" Saiga in x39

Shoot stock iron sites with both

Even though the single hook G2 trigger group on the Saiga is smoother than the stock AR trigger, I still shoot much better with the AR.

This is most likely due to the better sites on the AR.

I like the ergonomics and handling of the AR better....even with the HBAR, which puts the AR to within 1/2 lb. of the Saiga. If you build a pencil barrel 16" AR, or spring for a gov't profile barrel, you'll find it to be ~2 # lighter than the Saiga.

The wall thickness on the Saiga barrel is much thinner than the HBAR AR and groups definately open up as she gets hot.

The HBAR on the AR holds groups tighter for much longer.

The Saiga is easier to clean and the conversion is both fun and easy.

All things considered, I like the AR quite a bit better.

The Saiga's still a keeper and I hope to put a Kobra red dot on it some day.

comparing x39 to .223 isn't exactly apples to apples though....

YMMV
