Building a .45 for my son

My son was born about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and I thought of a long term project to start for him. I would like to build a nice Govt. model .45 to give him down the road. This project would be spread out over a few years, so price of components really wouldn't be too much of an issue. I'm not really too familiar with govt. models and was looking for advice. What kind of frame, slide, barrel, etc.?? Go wild with your dream .45 and let me know what you think. Thanks for any help.

Get a Brownell's catalog on 1911's and parts. Start with one of their matched frames/slides from Essex. Add on to your heart's (wallet's!) content!
