Current carry pistol is the P365 with a Hogue slip-on grip. Grip module has been swapped out for one from Sig that is Coyote Tan. Trigger has never been worked on or messed with and is crisp and perfect at 5 lbs. The pistol is accurate, reliable, and I forget it's there every time I carry it.

But... I like .40 S&W and am drawn to mid-sized .40 S&W autos with capacity of 10-14 rounds.

I carried an M&P40c 1.0 from 2007 to 2020. But, when I got into GSSF, I started really focusing on accuracy and trigger quality and the M&P fell short. I had never bench rested my carry ammo and was horrified to discover that it was grouping 8-9" at 25 yards, while my G19 Gen 5 would do an inch.

So I started searching for a better carry pistol and found the P365. But I still lusted after a mid-sized .40 S&W, so I bought the Gen 5 G23 and it was just too bulky, so I bought a Gen 4 G23 and it is about perfect. I went through heck trying to get the trigger sorted out and the accuracy is slowly improving, but it got me to thinking about the Sig P320 Compact in .40 S&W.

It's the same size as the G23, with a better factory trigger, better factory sights, better grip angle, and is modular.

I found out that Sig discontinued everything in .40 S&W (idiots), so I was out of luck. Then, I discovered that Sig makes an FCU that is the heart of the P320 system.

MSRP is $299, but you are lucky to find them for $350+.

Sig also sells the grip module in everything from sub-compact to full-size, for $35. Wilson Combat makes a very cool unit for $65...

The slide assembly is a bit trickier. Sig lists a P320 Compact/Carry Coyote Tan slide assembly for $249.

Plus, add a .40 S&W barrel for another $150.

Then there is the issue of magazines, which are about $45 each, if you can find them.

So, total cost for a ground up build for a P320 Compact in .40 S&W with two magazines is just over $900 for a pistol that has a slightly better grip angle and trigger.

Doesn't seem worth it...

Found a NOS P320 Carry on Gunbroker and am the high bidder at $480, but have a much higher reserve. Figured I could buy it and add the Wilson Combat grip module and be good to go for much less than $900.

Or, I could get a P80 grip module for the G23, but am skeptical of them as far as reliability.
