I have made my order for a parts kit and have the semi auto components on order with the barrel. Is there a sight that can explain the step by step process of building this thing. It is a Mark V POF parts kit.

I moved this to Gunsmithing and Repairs, as it just seems to make more sense here than in Autoloaders. Good luck with your build!

RC Modeler. It did not require any milling. All I needed was a welder, a grinder, a Dremel, a good set of files and an optional side grinder. It is done. My next one is going to be a Mark II with a pistol grip. I am building it as a pistol with a short barrel.

I once built a Sten Gun, my attraction being the weapons simplicity. I shot about 500 rounds through it THEN totally distroyed it for obvious reasons.

I would not mess with the Sten
If you do get it to fire Semi Auto Only, then what about the barrel being shorter than 16" not to mention the original gun fires from an Open Bolt and that is not in favor with the BATF.
There are things you just should not play with, unless you like having a wife named Bubba for the next ten years.

Uhh - he mentioned he already bought all the semi auto components, which converts the weapon to closed bolt per BATFE regulations.

I've though about building an MP 3008 clone from a Sten parts kit and SBR it. (before barrel is added of course) I'm wonder how many modifications would need to be done to the bolt with the vertical fixed magazine. Pretty sure I would need to re-machine a new one.

@ Stressed
Thank you,
I was not aware that they made the closed bolt Kit for the Sten.
I knew they made one for the Sterling, but years ago I was given a Blank Sten reciever tube, and was unable to do anything with it.
So my thoughts towards that gun dimished, and I didn't look into the latest product availabity.
I just may have to find out where I put that , and start a new project.

The original receiver tube is not used with the semi auto build in the kits mentioned. The bolt and receiver are smaller diameter so the original open bolt can not be used at all. Keeps the ATF happy.:banghead:

Well if the Kit doesn't use the original tube, then I have a useless piece of pipe sitting around somewhere.
I tried to give it to a guy at a gun show that was selling Sten Parts Kits.
He about had a heart attack, and said, DONT Put that on my table.
But he tried to sell me a parts kit for it.
I told him , even though my tube is not cut out or machined, if I have a parts kit, then it is still a machine gun. No Thanks

I did the same thing with my home made suppresors. Just too risky. And you can make them in a couple of hours if needed.

As mentioned, already built as a semi auto using semi auto (firing from a closed bolt) parts. Tons of fun.
