I'm going to build a dedicated Varmint AR w/ a 20-inch barrel. I was wondering what kind of groupings I might be able to achieve w/ hand loads and say an E.R. Shaw, Wilson arms, RR or other manufacturers barrels. Should I go with a wylde camber and shoot heavier bullets or will 50 to 69 grain bullets work as well on varmints on up to the size of yots? 1:9, 1:8, or 1:12 twist?

I would probably go with a 1/9, just in case you want to try heavier bullets sometime.

My personal experiance over about 50 years of coyote hunting is the faster 50 - 55 grain bullets kill them deader then the heavy stuff.

Something about a light fast bullet blowing up inside the boiler-room just takes the starch out of them instantly without a twitch!

I've had them run off and lost them when a heavier bullet failed to expand sufficiently and just shot a hole through them.
