I have a 24" barrel being made for me by E.R. Shaw chambered in .243 with a 1:8 twist. I thought I'd try and shoot Hornady 87 grain bullets in it. My question is this; Is the 1:8 twist too tight for "lighter" bullets? I actually consider it a light bullet. Most vermin bullets seem to be in the 85 grain class. This is my first .243 rifle. I hope to reload these with H414 powder.

Won't be a problem.
Just don't use any of the so-called "TNT", "SX", or "Blitz" bullets under 80gr.
These might not stand the 1/8" twist.
The 1/8 is optimized for the 100-105gr match bullets such as the 105gr VLD bullets.

I found a box of Nosler Accubond 90 grain bullets on the shelf..:) Thought they had "walked off" for awhile. . Bonded stuff. A bit pricey but I think I'm going to try to work up a load with them first. If they shoot well I think I can rely on them as a "do-it-all" type bullet for coyotes, javalina and the tiny whitetails we have here. I wrote to Hornady and asked them about their 87 grain bullets and got a reply this morning and they recommended two different bullets for what I wanted to do. Not in my plan. I want one bullet for everything I want to do and I'm thinking I've now found it. Hope they shoot. Now I have to find some Norma brass. :banghead:

Mine's a 1/8... I run 2 different bullets. 65gr VMAX for vermin and 105gr AMAX for deer/target work. The 70gr TNT did not fair so well and I've not tried anything lighter than 65gr.
