I am building a AR15 and lots of choices on lower brands
which is better: Bushmaster, stag arms, rock river the list goes on
and on. Give me some help!!

I built two from stripped lowers. One Eagle/Armalite, one Rock River. I don't see any difference in quality. Both have the two-stage match trigger parts, which I recommend.

I got a pair of Eagle lowers and then later a pair of DPMS lowers. They all went together very nicely. I like the M15 and U.S. roll marks on the Eagles, but the DPMS had a slightly smoother finish (teflon coat or something like that). Stags are very popular, Bushmaster lowers are way too overpriced as are most of their parts, but they make very nice barrels.

The rest of the parts I used were mostly RRA, some DPMS and one has a Bushmaster barrel. There's no need to spend a fortune on AR parts. A lot of the lower cost stuff will work just fine. Just research the parts before you buy them to be sure. www.ar15.com is good place to search.

I built one on a Mega lower. Not only was it flawless, it featured a textured grip panel on the front of the magwell(the "Gator Grip"), and it has a sweet logo! Reminds me of that PC game, Fallout...

All listed are great but

Bushmaster take the cake ;)

Agria: That lower looks sweet! If you don't mind my asking, how much :)...?

Bushy, RRA, Stag...flip a coin, quality-wise. There's no functional difference.

I like the Stag because it's got that big dog with horns on the side of it.

I used DPMS lowers for my builds solely because all of the local gunsmiths universally recommended DPMS as their fave for their own builds.

Any one of the above mentioned lowers will suit your needs.

Colt may be a little pricey but the others can be had for a decent price.

Too Many- I believe I paid $90 for it. They are great deals, and if you do some looking in the Build It Yourself section of Arfcom, you will see they are popular, but not as big time as Stag, Eagle, or Bushmaster.

Good luck!

I built mine from a bare CAI labeled receiver with a mix of DPMS and Bushmaster parts. Works great. Stag is probably the best deal right now pricewise and I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Definitely Stag. Also Stag lower parts kits seem to me to be superior to other brands. Stag, Colt, & LMT are also the only companies that use mil-spec buffer tubes. That means if you decide to add a Crane or Vltor stock (like I did) you don't have the expense of buying another tube.

all the ones you listed should function reliably. you might want to try one out that matches the finish on your upper the best

I got a DPMS, and the only complaint I have is that the Teflon finish doesn't quite match my Del-Ton upper. But, no biggie there. The finish stood up quite well to my hammering and scratching.

Never heard of the Military using Bushy's. Always thought it was Colt and FN, with some older H&R, Hydromatics and Armalites.

Stick with any of the main manufacturers, and you should be good. Armalite, Bushy, Colt, DPMS, RRA, Stag, and probably missing some.

Bushmaster produces the highest quality AR15/M16 type rifles and carbines manufactured in the world today. We are a U.S. Government Defense Contractor - selling to U.S. Military Forces and Governmental departments - as well as many foreign governments and armed forces. In order for us to fulfill U.S. Government contracts, we must manufacture our products to strictest U.S. Military Specifications. What this means to the Law Enforcement Department, or Individual Officer, is that you can purchase the same mil. spec. quality product that we would deliver to the U.S. Government. We will only manufacture one grade of weapon - of the highest quality possible. We do not, and will not, "cut corners" on a product that may make a life or death difference to you - your partner - or your department.

Our Bushmaster Weapons Systems have proven themselves on the battlefield as well as on the streets against crime. Aside from simplicity and ruggedness, one of the most important features of the AR15/M16 design is its functional flexibility. In seconds, our short barrel patrol entry carbine can be transformed into the most accurate of SWAT/Sniper tools by interchanging upper receiver / barrel assemblies.

This website will show you the wide variety of models and barrel options available in the Bushmaster Weapons Systems and we will be happy to help you create the weapons system most suited to your individual or departmental needs. Please call us at 1-800-998 SWAT - we look forward to serving as your AR15/M16 Bushmaster Weapons System Consultants.

When your life is at stake, trust in a proven firearm*. Bushmaster is the choice of Professionals.

*The Bushmaster M4 Type Carbine underwent a series of certification tests conducted by an independent laboratory - The H. P. White Laboratory, of Street, Maryland. After rigorous Function / Dispersion / Resistance Tests; Safety Drop Test; High and Low Temperature Tests; Proof Pressure Test; 2500 Round Reliability Test; SAAMI Drop, Jar Off and Rotation Tests, the Bushmaster passed with flying colors. This is why we say "When your life is at stake, trust in a proven firearm". The Bushmaster has proven reliable from desert sands to city streets!

Any of the forged receivers should be fine----just avoid the cast ones.
Nothing wrong with a cast lower, but I'd still rather have a forged one.

How can you tell which are cast and which are forged?
Click Here. Its in the Oly Arms FAQ, so I dont know how castings from other companies will compare.
