Has anyone here cut down a junked percussion rifle into a pistol? I've been working on one and am curious as to accuracy with the 1 in 48 twist from the rifle barrel. I'm debating filing in a dovetail for a rear sight. Not sure it will even need one as it might just be point and shoot accurate anyway.

While most pistol barrels have a rate of twist of 1 in 20" or faster, there are some factory production pistols that have slower twists.
For instance the very accurate Lyman .50 & .54 Plains pistols have a 1 in 30" twist and the Pedersoli .58 Harper's Ferry [flint] has a 1 in 47".
So IMO there's no telling how accurately any 1 in 48" shortened rifle barrel may shoot.
What caliber is it?

It's a 50. I bought the rifle for $40 at a pawnshop and the stock for $35. I've built a Kentucky kit before that cost about $180. This pistol has actually been more fun.
