bulgarian ssr-85 question

hi, just want to know if the ssr-85 is parts kit put together and built or factory guns?
how are the SSR-85 compared to the Arsenal Bulgaria slr-107 series? Are they on the same level?
How much should I pay for something like this?

And the original price was $1500 he said he would drop it down to $1100.

they were $500-550 back then and now maybe $600 for obama scare. im sure the prices will drop and the market will be flooded with ak47s. seen in when clinton got elected.

as for the ssr-85, the finish is poor and not well put together. the arsenal slr-107 blows the ssr-85 out the water. it is worth the $300 more. you can also get the slr-95 which is a top notch rifle.

it looks like the ssr-85 pictured is not stock. he added quite a few mods. at most id pay $800 for that setup

These are made of Type 3 AK-47 parts in Bulgaria. Arsenal of Bulgaria / Arsenal, Inc has nothing to do with these at all.

There are two eras of these rifles.

If yours was imported by Arsenal, USA / Global Trades in Houston, Texas, it's a top quality firearm.

If it's a current import, you take your chances.

Like the link said, they arent worth the $$ these days. Based on the pictures, 550 nothing more.

Get a Russian SAIGA for $300 and convert.

So he knew the price was at least $400 too high but figured he could scam someone anyway?

Anyway, the guns are going for about $650-$700 when I see them so skip the $1100. Even with the '74 style break, rails, stock, and grip being different the gun isn't worth it.

I have a Bulgarian SSR-85C2. The receiver is 1.5 mm thick (thicker than most Aks). The barrel is threaded for a slant break. The stockset is made by K-Var in the US. It is a very good quality AK. I paid $600 for it before the scare started. This AK was made with surplus Bulgarian parts and a new 1.5mm receiver. Shoots fine...........

I had an Armory USA/Global Trades SSR-85C2 a couple of years ago that I bought for $550 and regret ever selling, it was a GREAT gun. Fit and finish on mine was fantastic, smoothest AK action I've ever felt, the gun was flawless. I would have put that gun up against any Arsenal gun at the time. Mine too had the 1.6mm receiver, hammer forged barrel, parkerized finish.
I've been itching for another Bulgarian gun but have been told recently that they're not the same build quality that they were a couple of years ago so you may want to look it over carefully before you buy. As far as price goes, I think you're getting robbed at $1100. You could buy a new Saiga for $500, convert it yourself for just over $100, throw on a decent stock of your choice and still have some cash left over for ammo. You won't have the 1.6mm receiver or heavier barrel but you'll still have a darn fine AK that you'll be proud to say you built and that you'll be VERY familiar with from the build experience.

i had to pass on the deal, he wouldnt budge on the price of $1100.
i even asked if he would sell me the rifle stock for what he paid $550 and would try to get $1100.

well, i went to the gunshow and found a romanian wasr 10/63 for $350 and i sold the magazines on the spot and plan on selling the sling to bring it down to $320 or so. not too bad I say considering the political climate.
