Bulk ammo from a local shop, mysterious dings and markings. Should I trust it?

Kinda sad to see that many are ripping on you for buying ammo. I'm sure they didn't let you inspect all the rounds before purchase and it seemed like a deal at the time from what you saw, since you obviously took the time to sort through it and find ridiculous stuff like that.
In any case, shame on them for selling it, but glad to hear they did right by you, as a customer, to refund your money without much question.
 
From the pictures posted by the OP I'd say that the ammo he bought was assembled from reclaimed components.

Back last summer when Wideners and Pats Reloading were offering primed pull down brass I bought ten thousand or so of 5.56.

About 2% of the ones I bought reflect the neck splits and colds exactly like the ones shown in the op's pics.
