I posted this on a couple other forums but frequent here a lot so thought I would share here as well. I got this idea from another site. Well I finally got my bullet trap mounted and collection tank setup. it has a 24"x24" opening and is made from 1/2" steel plate. this design worked out great for some other shooters. now i get back my lead and lead of those who shoot with me.

IT WORKS, EVERY BODY FOUND THE EXIT !!!!!

Shot it from 100 with 223 and 30-06 and then 10-15 paces with my 9mm

Everybody goes where they should

That's freakin' awesome!! I have one of the do-all .22 bullet traps that I've used for years that's similar to yours but without the collector at the back.

How's it looking like the steel is holding up? Dings, dints, cracks, etc?

halfded, its new but the 30-06 barely dimpled it.

Motownfire, yes from the top, foamboard works great, but you can slide a piece of plywood in the trough as well.

thats some nice fabrication work on that did you make it yourself

i wounder if it will start bounceing bullets back at you or something once it starts to get dented up if you intend to use it with high caliber rifles

wont work for alot of calibers and bullet types if you dont use proper steel.
just being nice and safety minded.

been reading that 25-06 jsp at full velocity can punch through most front end loader buckets sold on tractors these days. Most steel is that same strength unless you special order armor plate.

forget milsurp of any kind.

Nice work, big black. IMO, the angles are a bit steep for constant use with larger caliber rifles-eventually it's gonna show some wear. But for handguns, should last a lifetime.

We used a snail shell type trap for indoor testing of firearms at one shop where I helped. It was good to .338 WM per the manufacturer. But it was also designed so that you would stick the muzzle directly in in, rather than have it set up behind a target down range.
