Since I'm going to be sizing the bullets, it seems logical to lube them why I'm at it, so liquid alox is out. Is there a lube out there that will:

1. Be hollow to fit the sizer

2. Work well for 700fps - 2000fps

3. Not need to be heated (not really that important)

4. Not melt out of the case on hot days

I think that the only one I've found was Lyman Super Moly. I've got some Ideal also but that won't do well for high velocities. The other lube I have is Lyman Orange Magic, but it seems that using a heater is just one more thing I have to watch and probably forget about until the lube is dripping all over the floor.

Would a rheostat help in controling the lube heater, like a speed controler for a router?

There is a company up in Idaho, I think, that makes a Carraruba red lube that I use that is great.

Living in S. Texas, it gets a little warm in the summer and when I size, I don't need to start the heater, late fall and winter, I do. The only lube I am aware of outside the Alox is the Lyman Alox/Beeswax combo but in the heat, it melts all over the place. I used to use it and used Mica to try and stop the running. Some folk use baby powder.

I switched to White Label Lube and don't need the Mica. I use the red and it works great. I run it thru the mag pistols and rifles and do not have a problem.

Price is right also.

50-50 Bee's Wax:

This is the lube that will cover 90 percent of all cast bullet needs.
The NRA formula has been the cast bullet accuracy standard for decades and continues to shoot just as well today.
Plain base to around 1600 fps.
Gas Checked to 2200 fps plus.
Works great for smokeless loads in Black Powder Cartridges.
I shoot it in my 454 Casull and 470 Nitro Express with excellent results.

$1.90 per stick in clear plastic tube, or $1.65 packed in zip lock bags.

I have not tried all of the lubes available, but I have tried most, and the LBT "soft" is by the far the best I have tried. I use nothing else these days, in both rifle and handgun. Too bad it's so expensive...
