Yikes, obviously its a ricochet if his head started to bleed, you can also see the bullet bounce off the ground in front of him.

Yeah, why do people shoot steel targets with FMJ

that guy was a little close for a rifle. a local range here has steel targets for rifle. they are made of man hole covers, hung from chain and are at 200yds.

i have made my own steel targets, for pistol, shot at 20 or more yards and angled downward slightly, and never had one come back.

here is a simular video. the speed of a 50 bmg and the amount of time it takes for the bullet come back says to me his target was a long way off.

I've seen the 50 cal before. It was at 100 yards (per the website link on the youtube video)

6-27-07: BOOM HEADSHOT! This is amazing. Willie, the father of Tina, who made the sandbag rests fires a .50BMG, an Armalite AR-50 and it ricochets off of a steel plate that it should have easily penetrated. The bullet comes straight back and hits him in the head. You can see it hit the dirt about 15 feet in front on him before it clobbers him. Luckily he was uninjured. He's a bit sore today, but otherwise fine. Lucky lucky bastard. He has been advised to buy lottery tickets while he still has so much luck. I don't know about the timing, but you can hear the hit on the steel plate. Time that till the impact on Willie's head... how fast is that 750 grain slug traveling? The range is 100 yards. Amazing.

When I was a kid the local police shot a thug in the forehead with a .38 round nose lead bullet. It struck at enough of an an upward angle that did not penetrate the skull but got under the skin and traviled over the top and stopped in the middle of the back of his head leaving a big lump. The doctor came and made a small incision and removed the bullet.

there is a local lady of the night here in Delaware that the state cops call Potato Head, when her pimp went to shoot her he put a potato on the end of his gun to try and silence it. It stopped most of the momentum of the bullet instead and her skull looked like it was hit with a sledgehammer. Dont worry though, she's still out there strutting it out

Slightly off-topic, but read Jim Crillo's book... He talks about round-nose 38s being used for headshots and just breaking the skin, sliding around the skull (without bone penetration) and exiting the skin again. If I remember correctly, that was the reason he changed to 41 mag and full wadcutters; the sharp edges on the wadcutters caught better for headshots.

Saw a Dr. G episode where a guy dropped an old 22 revolver off an ironing board. Bullet went under his scalp, travelled around his head and lodged behind his ear. Dead.

She was really perplexed how it killed him, but it did.

Never had a bullet hit me but I did have one shot over my head while deer hunting and I can tell you one thing. I don't know if it was one inch or ten feet over my head but it does whistle and hearing that I hit the ground and was digging for China.
