Bullet swaging questions

Doing some research and I found drawings of the 'Webley Patented Man-Stopper Bullet' that was made for the .455 Webley. It's a hollow-base/hollow nose design.

From what I've read one of that type would need to be swaged instead of cast. Anyone have any experience with this? Any recommendations of someone who'd have/make the dies for this?

About the least expensive way to go would be to contact CH/4D and tell them what you're looking for. Their website is: www.ch4d.com. They probably already make the hollowpoint bullet die and it would only be a matter of turning a flat punch on a lathe to make the hollow base, and they could do that in a few minutes. You're probably looking at an investment of around $125.00 for the die and punch. Then you would have to have a cannelure tool to make the grease groove and then lube them. That could probably be done cheaply with Lee's Liquid Alox, if you don't have a lubricator/sizer already.

The bottom line is the project is do-able, but it's going to be labor intensive and cost some money to get it started. I've had good luck with taking existing cast bullets and swaging them into different shapes after they've been lubed with Blue Angel. The lube holds the grease groove open during swaging and stays in place, so the bullet doesn't have to be lubed a second time.

I've made several thousand SWC and RN bullets into RN-FP bullets for Cowboy Shooting through my Marlin Carbine with CH bullet swaging dies and my RCBS Rockchucker. It works, but does take some time to get it done.
