As Uncle Mike pointed out, removing the forend pressure point may degrade the accuracy, but should ensure the rifle will hold zero better.

Many rifle manufacturers add the pressure point to reduce barrel whip, which usually increases accuracy slightly, with sporter barrels. The downside is that if the stock (wood) swells or shrinks with moisture changes, the zero can change (the upward pressure on the barrel at the pressure point will be increased or decreased, resulting in different barrel harmonics).

With my wood-stock rifles I remove the pressure point, then glass-bed the whole action plus the first 3 or 4 inches of the barrel channel. The remaining section of the barrel towards the muzzle is free floated. This has worked well for me to provide good accuracy as well as stability for holding zero.

I tightened the action screws from around 10 in-lbs to 20 in-lbs and the 150 gr. Core-Lokt groups tightened up, the 180 gr. groups spread a little but still under 2 MOA.
