I went shooting with a buddy a few days ago, after not pulling a trigger for over two years. I know, not too bright while carrying concealed. But I always have faith in not only my weapon, but my abilities as well. Usually it's just shoot a few more magazines until back up to snuff, and usually it's a matter of months for a long spell-not years. Suffice to say, I've had a bad couple years with the wife's illness. I lost her this past election day, and for the last 6 months or more, nothing else was important. This time was different, as my EDC was pulled and the magazine emptied into the target at about 25 feet. All 7 rounds were about a half-inch left of the bullseye, in a tight little cluster. Best I've done after a layoff, and yet it was the LONGEST layoff. Good enough, and I simply reloaded it and put it away, til I could get home and clean it. I also shot my PLR-16 with a new laser atop. Need to take my bench with me to really zero it in next time, but it's close enough for now. Then I fired a new Bullpup, which I've had for years and never fired. It's a 1967 Ruger 10/22 with a J. Bunting conversion. I was quite tickled that there were no failures of any kind, it was quite accurate, after the Pentax was adjusted, and above all, it was more fun even than my GSG-5, and that's saying something. Good to be back in the saddle.
