Bullseye scores?

I seem to have hit my plateau when it comes to pistols at 25 yards. As I don't compete, I'm curious how my shooting stacks up with others.

Today I shot five B8 targets at 25 yards, fifty rounds each. Three of these were shot with my 45, two with my 22. When all was said, my average score was 470 7X (range was 469-471, so, if nothing else I'm consistent--just wish I could get rid of that friggin' flyer in the six ring). Its been right around this 'score' for quite some time.

How does this compare to others here?

The standard "National Match Course" is slow, timed and rapid fire. Slow is at 50yards with 10 min for 10 shots, timed is at 25 yards with 5 shots in 20seconds twice and rapid is at 25yards in 10seconds twice. This gives a possible score of 300 points. A normal day's match would be shooting this course 3 times with a .22, 3 times with a centerfire and 3 times with a .45 giving a possible score of 2700 points. Very good shooters can shoot a 2600. Very very good shooters can shoot a 2650 (and indeed, if you shoot over 2600 or 2650 you are considered to be a member of the 2600 club or 2650 club. Most common folk do not shoot these scores but it gives you an idea of what CAN be done and to compare your scores to. Quantrill

Old bullseye shooter's adage:

"You only get as good as your competition."

Having someone to compare with spurs you to better shooting. Consider getting in a league and shooting with others on a regular basis.
Don't wait until you are "good enough", it won't happen until you start competing. And no one else will laugh at you. They are kicking themselves for that "6" they threw.....
