Just read something on the internet. Ms Feinstein showed a film of a "bump fire slide" on an assault style rifle. What is a bump fire slide. I'm not up on all the latest gimmicks. Apparently enables the gun to fire more rapidly?

Yes from what I have read it uses the guns recoil to let it move back then forward to simulate fullauto.

A slidefire stock is probably what she was referring to.
http://www.slidefire.com/

It allows a semi-auto to "bump-fire" and simulate full-auto.

The rifle is still a semi-auto, but the receiver recoils against the shoulder stock, and by keeping your finger in the same place, it pulls the trigger against each time the receiver returns forward again.

I tried one. My cousin demoed one to see if he was going to carry them in his store. I didn't like it. I had difficulty making it work. You basically have to hold the gun wrong in order to get it to function.

Buddy has one on an AK. It worked fine for me and I was able to dump a mag at full auto rate of fire on a 55 gallon drum from about 20 yards. Not something I want, but it was kinda fun. Came home from that trip (annual dove hunting trip) and looked it up. Those things are ridiculously expensive IMHO for a toy, not to mention the cost of ammo.

I didn't have to "hold the gun wrong" to make it work, worked just fine shouldered. It did have a vertical forward grip on a rail which helped a bit. I just put forward pressure on that grip and ratta tat tat. :D

I fired one on a DPMS AR-15 and it was easy to use and plenty of fun. At $300 for a stock I really couldn't see any real reason to have one unless you just have plenty of ammo on hand that you need to burn through. It was fun but that was when .223 ammo was cheap and I couldn't see using it much.

Not even close to full rate of fire, but a neat toy to blow (now scarce and expensive) ammo without undue strain on your finger or eyes.

My sister got me one as a gift, absolutely could not make it work reliably without holding the gun in such a way that if felt like I had no control. I can bump fire from the shoulder more accurately without the SFS. That said, I have little use for ammo dumping.

We were able to exchange it, plus a little cash on my end, for a duo-tone CZ83.

If they were $80, it'd be a different story. For ~$350, they can keep them.

Bump fire is where one basically keeps the trigger at the right location with just enough play to reset and fall and then allow the recoil to make it do so rapidly. The slide fire stock essentially makes it easy to keep the trigger in this spot while the gun is shouldered and then allows the gun to sort of reciprocate by having a loose stock but you have to push forward at the same time to drop the hammer. Is that clear as mud? Basically it makes one look like they are shooting a full auto. Tons of youtube videos are available.
