Burgler Alarm Systems & Companies - Dallas-Fort Worth Area

Hello Everyone,

I’m buying my first house and have been looking at alarm systems for the house. The house has never had an alarm system before.

Generally speaking I am looking for something of superior quality and out of the normal channels for most home owners. Most of the large companies (e.g., Brinks, ADT) only wire the most likely doors to be breached and I do not want to have the same alarm as everyone else as it might be easier for a BG to defeat it.

I am not interested in having the alarm leased from or monitored by a service like ADT or Brinks. I want to own the system outright and use it as a warning to get the family into the safe room with the guns.

Can anyone suggest a brand of alarm that could possibly fulfill my needs?

Does anyone know of a service that could do a first rate job of installing the system into my home?

The company that supplied the equipment in my new house was Ranger American. Can't say I have any complaints. I have ADT monitor it and I use their cellular backup system so a) I can use VoIP and b) because that's not something a BG can easily 'cut' and bypass. Since you don't want monitoring that probably won't matter.

Does anyone have any recommendations on brands of security equipment and components?

You could always buy a monitored contract on a full-bore system (all the tyes of alarms you want.) Then when the contract ends, you lose the monitoring but not the siren...just a thought.
