I'm looking for a short-range scope for my RRA AR. I've become interested in two in particular.

1. Burris MTAC 1-4x. Available from Primary for $500 usually (on sale now for $425), comes with a PEPR mount (non-QD) and a little Fastfire red-dot. Definitely attractive from a budget standpoint.

2. Primary Arms 1-6x w/ACSS reticle. I'd have to buy a mount separately and probably forgo the red-dot to fit within the same budget. Would obviously give slightly higher magnification but might not be as effective at much shorter ranges.

Many features are shared (illum reticle, 30mm tube, etc etc). I believe when all is said and done the PA would be lighter and (possibly) have a more useful reticle. I think that both would have an issue with the reticle washing out in bright sunlight and/or the center of the reticle obscuring a smaller/more distant target.

I'd really be grateful for any input on either system. Particularly interested in durability, optical clarity (esp at shorter range inside say 20 yards) and the "would you buy again or recommend" factor.

Thanks!
