I just finished building my second AR and now am in possession of a Primary Arms 1x6 scope and a Vortex Strike Eagle 1x6, on two separate AR rifles. I am in a unique position to compare both side by side. I have had the Primary Arms for about a year and have been very rough on it and it has performed admirably. The Vortex Strike Eagle is mounted but hasn't been put through the paces yet like the Primary Arms scope. I paid $260 for the Primary Arms and $295 for the Strike Eagle(on sale). Many people believe that these scopes are the same except for company logos and the reticles. I can tell you that the body of the scope appears to be the same. The only difference is the finish on the Vortex is shinier. The scope caps are interchangeable and the illumination settings are identical. The difference in these two scopes is the glass. The glass on the primary arms scope is good and usable. It is clear in the center portion of the scope but has fisheye around the edges. The Vortex is clearer around the edges and has no fisheye. The reticles are both good. I can't decide which I like better. The ACSS reticle appears to be better for long range and target shooting. I think the Vortex reticle is better for close combat or three gun applications. You can't go wrong with either scope and both companies seem to have excellent customer service. In summary.....
Primary Arms 1-6 ACSS - Pros - price, dull finish(more military like), better reticle for precision shooting, tough as nails
Vortex Strike Eagle 1-6 - Pros - warranty, better glass, better reticle for close quarters(haven't tested toughness but believe the internals are the same)
Note: I would be very surprised to find out that these scopes are made in different factories
