Burris scope: Good or Bad?

I have a 3x9-40 Burris Fullfield II that is marked "MADE IN THE USA" and I also have a 3x9-40 Burris Fullfield II that came with a "FREE" pair of Burris binoculars. The USA scope has been on a Remington 700 in .270Win for the last 7 years with ZERO problems. It holds its zero and the point of impact does not change by moving the power from 3 to 9.

The "NOT MADE IN THE USA" has not been mounted on a rifle yet. It looks to be as clear as the USA made scope. I hope to have it mounted on a rifle this season though.

The "FREE" pair of binoculars are JUNK...The pair that came with the scope fogged up and formed water droplets on the inside of the lens. They were not exposed to rain or direct water. I sent them back and and got a new pair "FREE". The second "FREE" pair fogged up just as the first ones did. I sent the second "FREE" pair back and got a third "FREE" pair from Burris.

In talking with the fine folks at Burris they informed me that the binos and scopes not "MADE IN THE USA" were being made to the same standards as the ones that were. I wonder though...:scrutiny: what if my new in the box Fullfield II made to "USA" standards is as good as the first two pair of "FREE" binoculars were.

The made over seas Fullfield II is most likely a good scope. If I ever buy another one though I will shop around for the scope that cost $160-$170 not the one that comes with that "FREE" pair of binos that cost $200+

The FFII's are assembled in the Philippines with US parts and that is a recent thing. I have one of each and they are the same. By the way, Burris makes many of the Pentax rifle scopes, too.

I have two Nikon Monarchs and two FFII's. I prefer the Monarchs, but, well, I wonder if that is because they are a step up? In any case, the FFII's are excellent scopes and will do well for most hunters. If you can get a discount on a Burris, there's no reason not to get one over a Leupold.

Interesting re the binocs.

Mine have worked perfectly. It's not as humid here, though.:)

I have a Burris Black Diamond scope in 3-12 power.
Its optics are equal to or better than any other scope I have used. I am comparing it to several Leupold Vari-X IIIs, some Pre-Monarch Nikons, some Monarchs and two rather unimpressive Zeiss Conquests, which I recently sold.

I have no experience with the other Burris models but this Black Diamond is quite impressive.

They are great scopes with a company that has a reputation for service. I had a question about mine and got a quick response from their east coast service manager!

I also recommend Leupold. I consider them about in the same class.

Back in the 80s there were precious few handgun scopes out there, and even fewer that would stand up to a handgun's punishment. Burris and Leupold were 2 of them. I topped a Redhawk with a Burris 2X, and it performed valiantly even with extra-hot 300 gr. loads. I wouldn't hesitate to buy one again no matter what the application.

Burris scopes

I have a couple of the older Burris Signature series rifle scopes. They are great. I use Burris pistol scopes exclusively on my handguns. I like the Leupold rifle scopes currently better than the current crop of Burris scopes.
