Hi,

I've a new Thompson Encore Pro Hunter that I'm getting ready to put a scope on. The barrel is a non-ported 460 mag. I've done much reading on this subject, and today I actually went out and looked at the scopes I was considering which are the Burris 2-7 variable and the Leupold 2.5-8. I felt in terms of light, clarity, and eye relief, the Burris was far superior. In fact, the Leupold with my arms extended at their longest length (throughout the magnification range) was barely enough to get it to focus.

So here is my question--does anyone have person experience with this scope? The Burris people assure me with or without the posilock, I'll be fine--recoil will not effect it. I'd like some thoughts on this from anyone with experience in this area.

One scope I've not handled but would entertain comments on are also the Thompson handgun scope--any uses of this scope out there? Thanks in advance for the help.

After 20 years, I'm still buying and using Burris scopes, and highly recommend them. My 2-7 Burris handgun scope is on a 30/30 Contender barrel, but it doesn't compare to the recoil of the .460. While the non posilock model should work, the .460 S&W has a reputation for being hard on optics. So I would get the posilock model just to be sure.
