Bush DOJ supports DC gun ban!

Wonder if Bush was asked directly about taking this action or his new AG (remember the last one - Alberto was an AWB fan - like George).

The next rev. needs to be held in the voting booth. I for one am pushing hard for those I know to vote Ron Paul. It is time we get our constitution and our country back!

This should serve as notice to anyone considering voting Republican this year.

As much as we would like to believe that the person who stands up and says "I hunt..." or "I support the 2nd amendment..." this does not mean that person believes as you and most of us believe, or that they will act accordingly once voted into office.

Check voting records. A weasel is a weasel. Anyone connected politically, especially anyone who comes from a long familial line of political connections, and those who are members of organizations counter to traditional American values (such as the innocuously named but insidious Council on Foreign Relations) - these folks are likely to turn on you, betray your trust and your vote, when the chips are down and you can do nothing by way of reprisal. Be especially cautious of those who would use religion or hot-button wedge issues to stir up the electorate and distract them from the REAL issues.

As I look at the current field, there is only one name I would trust in the above regard. Look hard for yourself, then choose well.

What bugs me is that the DC Circuit's ruling permits "reasonable" regulation.

DC's laws are not reasonable...if you combine their pistol ban with their other gun bans, you wind up with a legal net that bans about two-thirds of the firearms made last year. Quite aside from the other laws that guarantee that what you are allowed to own can't be in a useable status.

At the Federal level, Heller would probably kill the ban on the manufacture of new MGs...but nothing else. And the background check provisions of NFA-34 have proven adequate to prevent the criminal misuse of MGs.

Personally, I think we need to start raising Hell with the White House and see if this can't be withdrawn.

yeah that really seems to be working......

So, you say voting isn't working, but you think somehow armed revolution will? The same people who can't organize well enough to make a dent in the polls are going to be able to oraganize well enough to overthrow the government? That seems awfully unlikely.

So, you say voting isn't working, but you think somehow armed revolution will?

The MSM basically controls the voting and candidates. And nothing is going to change as long as those in power are in the pockets of special interests.

In my lifetime the unthinkable happened. The Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact countries started falling like dominoes from within. The Empire of the United States isn't immune either.

DC announces new constitutional solution to Gun Ban.

To answer critics of the DC gun ban, the Mayors office has instituted the following new policy:

Starting immediately, powerful and deadly muzzle loaders just like our forefathers used will be available at the new DC armory. Using only a credit card and RealID, citizens over 21 will be able to check out 1 of 10 long rifles with 3 rounds and powder for up to 3 days per month! Call ahead to reserve yours today! There will be a charge for unreturned shot.

Attorneys for the district believe this policy will effectively answer the case now pending in the Supreme Court.

yeah that really seems to be working/quote]

What do you expect with voter turnout as low as it is? It isn't working because we are letting it fail. A lot of people talk a good game but how many of them follow up? What do you do to support pro-gun candidates and what do you do to get people out to vote for them? This fight has to be won at the ballot box and in courtrooms, the alternative, no matter how glorious it seems to a 14 year old mind, is not in anyone's best interests.

depending on G. W. Bush to reduce the size and scope of government or lower the federal budget

The president is only one part of the equation. The most easily recognized and scapegoated but hardly the source of laws in Washington. We sound like uneducated Brady Sheep when we say things like that. The people who are going to reduce the size and scope of government and the budget are Congressman and/or the judiciary, not the president. The president is a cheerleader for the most part, important, but not the source of so much power as many people mistakenly believe.

This time I am voting for a candidate that plans to make some bacon.

This should serve as notice to anyone considering voting Republican this year.

Right on. That's why I am doing a write-in vote for Ronald Reagan in the next election. If enough voters do the same we can bring him back. Even if we can't get enough votes, we will have sent them a message. It doesn't matter if they take away the firearms. What matters is that they know the kind of people we are. They probably have a good idea about that already but let's remove all doubt. It's all or nothing. If we can't get everything we want all at once, we don't want anything at all. It's all or nothing for us. And it doesn't matter which we get. To the barricades! No compromise!

The MSM basically controls the voting and candidates. And nothing is going to change as long as those in power are in the pockets of special interests.

So, the MSM is so powerful that they can do whatever they want, yet they are just going stand by while you are and your little band of Wolverines overthrow the government. Or is the plan to overthrow the media first?

The Soviet Union and Warsaw Pact countries started falling like dominoes from within. The Empire of the United States isn't immune either.
If you are comparing the collapse of the Soviet Union to the current state of the US today, that would indicate that you aren't very aware of the various factors surrounding the fall of the USSR.

All these fantasies about overthrowing the government do nothing to further the RKBA nor the acceptance of gun ownership as part of being a normal citizen rather merely being the realm of whackjobs with delusions of patriotic grandeur.

Has he ever done the right thing?

Occasionally, after exhausting all possible alternatives. Generally just "a" right thing, though, not remotely the rightest thing that was available for him to do.

Anyway, so much for all those who claimed Bush's campaign support for the AWB and other gun control was just politics. Only reason we got as good as we did from him was because he was convinced it was politically necessary, and at this point there's very little that's politically necessary for this lame duck.

Contrary to those who say that the Supreme court won't be swayed by the bad reasoning of this brief, the 'Justice' department carries a LOT more weight with the Supremes than most of the groups filing briefs in support of the District. Having them file this brief was a real blow to us, don't doubt it.

My degree of optimism about this case has just taken a nose dive.:uhoh:

You want to do something effective, Join the NRA today. Take the $35 you were going to spend on a magazine for your SIG and join.
We only have 4 million members, imagine what we could do with 20 million members.
That would be a good idea, but a lot of the electable candidates are against special interest and are promising to pass laws like McCain-Feingold further regulating special interest groups.

Why would I want to give money to an organization that is actively fighting against pro-gun and concealed carry reform for my state?

No thanks, my money goes to an organization that has gotten more positive gun legislation passed in the last year than the NRA has in the last decade.

So ah where do we meet up again for the next Revolution?
Meet at the ballot box. That is, if it's not being run by DieBold or one of the other 3 secret electronic balloting companies with absolutely no oversight and shoddy security.

But I suppose you could still have faith that your vote is being counted.

Raise Wayne's salary to 8 figures a year? When they start supporting the second amendment and stop acting as a tool of the republican party they will have more of my money. Right now they are a disgrace. And BTW I am a member which is why I have the right to complain....

So ah where do we meet up again for the next Revolution?
At the caucus for a third party. If we can't give them enough power to reform the gov, then we'll have the organization needed for that revolution we wish we could avoid.

glorious it seems to a 14 year old mind, is not in anyone's best interests.

glorious?, not really.

since you assume my comment was only one dimensional, let me expound.

my point being this;

1. can i as a voter assure safeguards against voter fraud?.

2. can i as a voter control the decisions of a lieing politician once in office?.

3. can i as a voter influence government officials with money and favors?.

4. can i as a voter directly influence SCOTUS appointments?

5. can i as a voter realisticly fight unconstitutional laws?

6. can i as a voter stop the misinformation spread by the media?.

answer: NO

here lies the root of the problem...................ignorance

it always has been and always will be a world where the FEW protect the MANY.

do i think voting is pointless?, absolutley not.

do i think it will solve all of the countries problems?, never.

so who's comments were that of a 14 year old?.

a hopeless optimist who beleives all can be accomplished through a ballot?

or a realist who knows that every once in a while when the voice of the people has been drowned out by that of elitists, it takes something more than a voter. it takes a patriot.

although we are far from a justifiable rebellion, labeling the scenerio under "never" would be inclusive to that of the ignorant.
