I acquired a brand new Bushmaster 308 ORC last year before the gun scare. it has remained in my safe since then with no optics. could have sold it first part of the year for an outrageous price I am sure, but now with AR prices coming back down to earth, thinking about actually putting it to use. any experience, reviews, opinions on this Bushmaster. the Lower is marked BFI, Windham Maine LR308. thanks.

308 orc

I have had one for a couple of years now and do really like mine. Changed out the buffer and spring put an adjustable gas tube on it, which slowed it down cycling. My motto for it "light it up and smoke it". I would buy another if the opportunity came.

They are pretty nice -- a step up from the DPMS models, though they're built on the same pattern. The main improvements over the DPMS carbines are the chrome lined barrel and the mid-length gas system. It is nice that they share the DPMS pattern, because that is the type with the most aftermarket accessories. One of these days soon I'm sure you will even be able to find mags for them in stock, other than Promags. I am waiting for that myself! FYI I haven't ever owned one of these, but I have had a couple DPMS .308s. I looked into the Bushmasters quite a bit. If I would have found a good deal on a 308 ORC or MOE, I would have preferred it to the DPMS Oracle I ended up buying. It is just a project gun that is getting most of the important stuff switched out anyway, so I went with the cheapest I could find.

I have the Bushmaster ORC and MOE. I'm setting up the
ORC with a 4-12 scope. Haven't figured out which one yet.
I'm setting up the MOE with a red dot. I have an Eotech
512 on it now and am happy with that.
