I'm starting to look into the "Carbon 15" line of Bushmaster pistols.
Link:Carbon 15
...I want to stay in the .223 configuration so that I have the magazine interchangeability with my other magazines from my Varminter.
Anybody have any experience, suggestions, or advice on this line, with regard to model selection or accessories?

Um I saw one at a gun show get droped and a big chunk came flying off of the hand guard. Enough to make me not want one.

I've got this one and love it. http://www.bushmaster.com/catalog_xm15_BCWA3F16.asp

I do however want to drop a different trigger in it. I had it out at the range in -3 degree weather and it performed well execpt for two failure to feed the next round issues. I had a little too much oil on the action and should have shot it dry though. The gun is a tack driver...get one!

I've got the BM Carbon 15, 7 inch barrel pistol and two Kel Tec PLR pistols.

Not putting down the BM but the Kel Tec has it beat in almost every way.

Way lower price than the BM.
9 inch barrel, yet the guns are the same length.
Excellent AK/AR type action.
More accurate.
Higher muzzle velocity with the longer barrel.
I like the looks, feel and shooting of the KT much better than the BM.

And Kel Tec's warranty is second to none.
If the gun ever breaks OR WEARS OUT KT will rebuild it at no charge.

Could one conceal carry a Kel-Tec PLR or an AR-15 pistol if one felt like it? I know it would require heavy, probably winter clothing but I'm rather interested.

Yes, actually fairly easy, especially with a 20 round magazine and wearing like a 3/4 length loose coat..

One thing to consider is these guns are VERY loud. I'm not talking LOUD, I'm talking VERY, VERY LOUD.
So, that has to be considered.
In the house I have a pair of ear muffs next to the BM and KT just in case I had to grab one.

The Kel Tec.

One could in Oklahoma. The restriction here on CCW is a max caliber of .45. I don't remember there being a minimum caliber set for CCW.

If one found hisself in a defensive situation and opened up with one of those 9" .223 pistols I wonder how it'd go over in a trial?

Chances are I'd be glad to have one of these .223 pistols if I needed it.
They aren't necessarily my go to HD gun but I do keep loaded magazines in them.
If I was still on the road I'd have PLRs in the vehicles.

Personally, I would not like to face one of these .223 pistols out to a hundred yards or so.

...That's part of the reason, I'm thinking this way. In Michigan, at least, it isn't legal to have magazines already loaded in the vehicle with the rifle....Now, because the shorter versions require registration as a "pistol", and like many of you, I have a "CPL", this all becomes legal just like any "pistol" otherwise would be.
