I have a new carbon 15 Bushmaster (10 rnds fixed mag Ca legal) and the upper doesn't drop into either of my Bushmaster lowers and the lower doesn't
take my other bushmater uppers. I have 3 Bushmasters which are all stock but the carbon 15 works fine with the carbon fiber top and bottom but the uppers and lowers don't fit my other rifles. Has anyone else had this issue? If so were you able to resolve it? I called Bushmaster and the rep said to drill out the rear pin hole of the upper and had no clue about the lower. Out side of returning the enitre unit I'm not sure what options are left. Thanks RB

Robo, I'm surprised a rep would recommend anyone start drilling on an upper... unless you're a qualified gunsmith or one of their licensed shops. IMHO it should be sent back in its entirety, especially since it's brand new.
Good luck.

robo, i bought a completely stripped c15 upper and lower from bushmaster and they have been perfect, but I've heard nothing but problems about their complete guns. i don't know anyone who's been happy with the complete gun, or kept it very long, or shot more than a few mags through it.

I just shot 426 rounds out of a carbon-16 9mm today+yesterday, can't speak on the 223 models but this one lets me poke holes in paper for a lot less then i can with my 223 based ARs

UPdate

Yes it surprised me that a rep would suggest milling or filing to a person over the phone especially these days but it is true. I filed the rear upper hole a bit after measuring the diameter to be slightly smaller than the ones on my metal uppers. ANNnny how it worked fine and I used the CARON15 upper on my predator lower for 600 flawless rounds Sat/Sun.. The upper was light and functioned great. The only bad news is that the lower stays in Nv as it isn't registered in CA.. No biggee there but the carbon15 lower just doesn't work which sucks so I'm sending it back. Thanks for the input. RB

Carbon 15 and standard bushmasters are not inter changeable.
anyone know if there was any particular reason for this, or is it just a wierd fluke? Seems kinda odd if done on purpose, as I cant imagine why, but also seems odd that Bushmaster would be able make all their other stuff compatable/interchangeable, but somehow unintentionally make these one not....
Just curious, as it seems a little wierd to me, nut then again, I'm a real newbie to ar's, so....

Update

I took my upper to Reno last weekend and used it on my Dissipator lower after I did some light filing of the rear upper hole that the pin goes thru and shot about 400 rnds thru it without an issue. So the upper is fixed and now on to the lower. The two front tangs of the lower were over molded a few 1/100ths more than the 2 stock Bushmater lowers I have so the upper wouldn't mount. I reradiused them and it works great. I also contacted BM to advise them of the issue and to alert production/engineeing. Soooo my upper and lower carbon product now work fine although I'm not happy that BM would allow this. The rep emphatically told me they are to be interchangeable with any other of their uppers or lowers. Oh well.

Roboshred, I am glad it worked out for you. I have a BM Carbon 15 CA i have never tried my upper on a standard lower i hang out at calguns once in a while they always tell every one to use Carbon lowers with Carbon 15 uppers. The Carbon 15 lower with a open mag well is off list and can be DROSed into CA. Now i want to try my Carbon 15 upper a standard lower.

Mike
