I recently bought a Bushmaster Ar 15 model # xm15-e2s with the fixed handle. I was interested in a scope but, I don't know much about them and need some help.

Will I will need to mount the scope on the handle or is there a different way.

What's the difference or need for illuminated scopes vs standard ones?

I would want to still use the iron sights for pratice so was hoping for a quick release scope.

I would like to shoot out to 100 to 200 yards (limit at my range) and would need a scope for this.

I saw a lot of different names and prices of scopes online in my search, I would like to stay under $500 or so. any help is greatly appreciated

I'm just looking for a good scope to mount to the handle of my bushmaster AR 15 Has anyone done this? Any info?

ACOGs from Trijicon are set up to mount on the carry handle of non-rail equipped rifles.

You could also get rails to replace your handguards on the rifle and mount a red dot like a AimPoint or EOTech that are forgiving of eye relief issues. There are also some mounts that attach to the carry handle and put a piece of rail in front of the handle to mount a red dot on.

One issue is what kind of budget you have to work with. ACOGs are good, but they're priced accordingly. EOTechs and AimPoints are more affordable, but still run $300+.

I just bought a Rock River AR-15 with detachable handle and sight...and got
Warne QD rings for the picatinny rail and a Nikon Monarch 3-9 from Natchez
on close out for 199...so am happy camper...love the gun and the sight set up.

I'm sorry to say but, you aren't going to have very much luck. I few years back when i first got into ARs I ran into this problem and just decided to keep the irons. You could get this http://www.benniecooley.com/ . You could co-witness a dot optic with it forward of the carry handle. I'd say just practice with the irons untill you get the accuracy you want. At 200 yds irons should work fine, track every shot and adjust sights, once you get the sights where you like them 200yds should be simple.
